Travel: Picnic at New Digha or Bag Danga

Nature is not close to our cities. To have a glimpse of perennial beauty of nature, you have to visit the rural side of West Bengal. Fortunately, I got a chance on 15.1.2011 to go closer to nature. In simpler terms I got a picnic to enjoy for a day in the vicinity of nature.

The picnic spot was at New Digha (Bag Danga), governed by Hoogly Zilla Porishod. The picnic was organized by my language learning institute.

On the evening before the picnic, our team of 5 students went to market. It was not a very nice experience as we had to carry lots of vegetables from the market to the institute and our bags became really heavy.

On the very day of the picnic I had to get up at 5 pm. It was not possible for a lazy guy like me to wake up on a winter morning unless my mother took the responsibility. Our reporting time was 7.30 am. I reached in front of the institute much before that and saw nobody. Thankfully, the wait for others was not long as my brother-like Bonodeep came early. We went inside the institute and others started coming. Two cars arrived just at 7.30 am. By 8.00 am, we were all inside the car and our two cars got traffic-free roads as morning’s natural advantage. Sitting in the car and watching the pitch-filled road running backwards from the window was a nice experience altogether.

Our cars quickly touched places like Dunlop, Konnogor etc. until we reached our destined ground of New Digha. If you are familiar with the place, ‘Digha’, you must be wondering about the sea. But you are wrong this time! Because New Digha near Chandannagar has nothing to do with New Digha sea-beach. They are two distinct places.

Anyway, we got off our cars to witness a long queue in front of the picnic spot. The entry fee was Rs. 10. It was a large area near river-side divided into several picnic spots. We approached towards ours. Generally, I prefer to choose a picnic spot that is very calm and quite. But New Digha was full of chaos as lots of picnic lovers gather up to the same place. It was like many birds put inside a small cage - all chattering in their highest scales and making cage look like a parallelopiped of noise. The situation got worse as some other picnic candidates came next to us and they started their booming sounds of music boxes.

The students got distributed for various activities. Some played cricket and badminton, some started helping the cooks, some started move here and there to get an idea about the whole place. I was among the last people. We came outside the picnic spot (out of the whole chaotic place). The lovely river was flowing beside it. We moved towards the other side of the river. In the other side, there were bushes of bamboo trees. We went through the path filled with dry leaves. It was a kind of adventure for urban people like us. The look at the picnic spots from bushes of bamboo trees was not a picture perfect one. We saw that lots of dishes were dumped on the sides of the river. “Can’t authorities make a better disposal to human wastes?”, I thought to myself.

Anyway, the bushes of bamboo were not filled with so many abandoned dishes. Me and one senior student, Ranju-da spent quality time there. I suddenly saw one big black bird was in the leaves-covered-boroughs of bamboo trees. I meantioned that to Ranju-da. He also looked at it and said it might be a crow. Upon close observation, we understood that it was not a crow. The bird had red eyes.

I certainly related the bird’s identity with mine. The bird was very away from noisy picnic spots. Here amidst the calm flowing water of the river and in the yellowish greenery of bamboo trees, it had found its supreme abode. Also, it was certainly lonely like me. I had the camera to take photos of that bird. But I did not intend to do that. Not every beauty of nature should be caught by camera. Let mind have its own camera to catch something. That was the best part of the picnic.

We returned to our picnic spot. The lunch was right on time. The Bengali / Indian menu included Bhat (white rice), Muger Dal, Alu-Kopir torkari, Beguni, Murgir Mangsho (meat of Chicken) and chatni. Some said, Beguni could have been more crispy and Alu-kopir torkari could have been tastier, but I really enjoyed all the items. After having my lunch, I served others with my limited capabilities.

After lunch, we stayed long to our allotted spot. We packed up our remained goods and reached to our institute by 7.00 pm. The things that were biting me were not only fact that humans are polluting the river sides but also the chilly wintry wind of an evening.

Wish list for 2012 : 10 wishes I want to become true

I wish the following things to happen by end of 2012:

Mobile handset with ereader: I wish that all handsets of mobile providers come with default ebook reader that will be able to read .MOBI, .PDF and .EPUB files. If they can read .DOC and .DOCX files that will be an added plus.

Tablet: I want all Android based tablet prices to come within the range of Rs. 5000-7000 from big companies like HP, Amazon, Samsung, Apple etc. I want number apps for Kindle Fire to be doubled, tripled or more by end of 2012.

Windows 8: I want Windows 8 to be released on 2012 with a sleek tablet version. I also want apps developers for tablet gives much importance to develop applications for Windows OS tablet version.

Laptop: I wish all major laptop makers bring down the laptop prices below Rs. 20000.

Touch based smartphones: I wish all touch-based smartphones are built with both keypad and touch based technology. I mean, every smartphone should contain both the options.

Apps compatibility: I want apps built for one OS should smoothly run on another OS. Apps built for iOS should run on Android and Windows 8 also. There won’t be any different version for the same app file irrespective of the OS. .

Free international contests: I want to participate in free international literary contests and want to win any of them with prizes. I want plenty of literary writing competitions to be occurred in India where competition entry free will be nil and submission can be done online.

DSLR cameras: I wish the DSLR camera prices to be dropped under Rs. 15000.

Sweepstakes: I wish lots of tech gadgets are offered as sweepstakes in India.

Job: I wish that I get good job offer from top companies and get a handsome salary of 5 figures.

Reckless car driving and Innocent pedestrians

It is difficult to change the past. Some deeply painful past we can’t change. Like, I can’t or we can’t change the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear radiation tragedy of Japan. True, we can’t change the past tragedies of people. But we can alter present to form a future perfect.

Car accidents are too common a topic to discuss. Many have been injured by car accidents, many have died due to reckless car driving. But drivers are good fellows who never seem to learn from their past mistakes. The last victim of car accidents whom I have seen or heard of was my own mother!

On 23^rd March, 2011 when she was going to drop the telephone bill at Salt Lake’s Lalkuthi that unwanted incident happened. A white car while taking a turn with full speed in the ‘Foot Bridge’ place (near AE and AD block meeting point), lost its control. The car collided with a cycle rickshaw. The cycle rickshaw lost its balance and it fell straight on my mother’s body. My mother’s left hand got immensely injured. Some section of her hand got blackened immediately. Warm, fresh blood came out from three regions of her hand showing degree of injury. And the criminal’s car escaped unnoticed! Police in Salt Lake stands near Tank No. 4 when nothing bad happens. When that day their service was much required, they are nowhere near Foot Bridge or tank number 4 in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Some rickshaw puller told my mother that they can lend their kind service by giving her a free lift to our home. At least those illiterate rickshaw pullers were more humanic than the educated, civilized, organized police force of Salt Lake!

If you penetrate inside this matter, it will reveal many naked facts of Indian society. First of all, I believe that everybody in India should NOT own a car. Only people with civic sense should drive a car. And for speed demons, I would like to say whole Kolkata’s streets are not purchased by you guys. Streets of Kolkata are not your racing tracks! Kindly spare innocent citizens from becoming your victims.

Indian government and our transport ministers have taken a wrong step to bring down the price of cars. Many people without proper driving skills and knowledge drive on Indian roads. This is the reason why the traffic accidents in cities are increasing in an alarming rate. Also, few corruptive officers allow many devilish drivers their much awaited driving licenses in exchange of small amount of bribes. These speed demons then show off their evil speeds on city streets.

Through my blog, I request Indian government officials and ministers to do the following:

1) Hike the prices of cars such that not everybody can purchase it (when people buy a car at a higher price they will naturally drive it in a risk-free way, with a moderate speed)

2) Implement tough punishment system like sending the miscreant drivers to jail as well as monetary compensation in favour of the victim’s family

3) Implement 24 x 7 police posting in important sections of every city and policemen should have the authority any challenge any car owner whose driving speed is unnecessarily high.

4) Driving courses must be monitored by the government such that only good, matured guys get car or two wheeler driving licenses.

Finally, let me say a few more words about my mother. Every old fashioned mother is an expert in hiding her tears, physical / mental agonies in front of her son or daughter. My mother is no exception to that. If I asked her (on 26^th March, 2011) how she was feeling about the accident, she said, “Oh, it was just a minor accident! Although, I have not used any medicine ( except white colored Boroline )… (I am) giving some hot water pack on the wounded spots and you see, I can move my hand just like before.” I have taken some images of her wounded hand (on 26^th March, 2011) just to show you and the rest of the world about what was a ‘minor accident’ according to her. Please take a look at the following pictures (I think all the spineless, coward, journalists who repeatedly ignore to publish news of such accidents on newspapers, might be ashamed of themselves by seeing these pictures.):

19st March, 2011 was the day when the Moon, earth's natural satellite came closest (356,577 kilometers or 221,567 miles in 18 years) to us. I have taken a few pictures of it. Here is one picture which you may like to see:

I expected something strange will happen to earth. However, except irregular wind I experienced nothing.

Football lovers love Maradona as much as they hate him. When he was a player, football critiques spent thousand of printed lines describing his football playing genius, coaches tried to find his weaknesses and strengths. Opponent teams cursed him for his amazing goal scoring ability. Now that he has become national coach of Argentina, he is again in the spotlight! He was never away from fame, though. Maradona did not play this world cup as a player. So what? He drew attention than any of the present Argentine footballer. His admirers said that the God had come back to take the charge of his dynasty, the world of football. His enemies said (before that Argentina Germany match) that he has grown a ‘devilish beard’ with his age (they found no other fault in him!). After that shocking match, his critiques and enemies have found at least 10,000 errors of coach Maradona. Maradona was partly responsible for Argentina’s miserable loss. But main reason was Argentine defenders who failed to defend their goalpost from German blitzkrieg. Just like old days, coach Maradona is hiding his footballers from media attacks that he once did as captain of his national football team.

Germany started their world cup journey with a 0-1 loss to Serbia. They failed to reach the world cup final with the same 0-1 loss to Spain. In the middle of playing these two games, they knocked out two big teams, namely, England and Argentina. In the previous world cup also, they made Argentina’s exit. Neither they can win the world cup, nor they will let Argentina to win it. That’s a bad game approach.

What will happen in the final? Netherlands and Spain are facing each other in FIFA World Cup 2010. Both the teams have consistently played well in the whole tournament. The way Netherlands defeated Brazil was exceptional. The way Spain dominated Germany was extraordinary. Both the teams deserve to win in the final.

Spain defeated that Germany who swept away Argentina in this world cup. Naturally, Argentine fans will support Spain. Also, Messi’s playing at Barcelona may be another cause for supporting Germany. On the other hand Netherlands beat Brazil to reach in the final. So Brazilian fans may not support Holland. They may indirectly support Spain. But football is an 11 versus 11 game. More support does not mean the game is going to be in Spain’s favour. I am waiting to watch an interesting battle between Spain and Netherlands which may be unpredictable till the last whistle.

Who will star in the final? From Netherlands’ point of view, it will be superstar Arjen Robben. Along with him Holland boasts off Wesley Sneijder, Robin van Persie. In Spanish side, excellent footballer David Villa, Fernando Torres may steal the show. But I don’t understand why Fabregas was not given much opportunity to play in this tournament.

Despite the exit of big teams like Portugal, Germany, Argentina, Italy and Brazil, this world cup is special because it has given us new finalist teams. Also, I am happy with the performance of Asian team Japan and African team Ghana. New powers are emerging in this world cup. FIFA World Cup Final between Dutch and Spain is a proof of that.

My only condolence is for coach Maradona and that psychic Octopus named Paul. In this world cup, whatever the psychic Octopus predicted became true. Germans are planning to fry it up in a frying pan. If that happens that will be a bad news for football astrologers! But think about that creature’s unbelievable predictions. Doctor Octopus should hire Paul as his assistant and should check his own fate in his next tussle against that amazing Spiderman! But that’s another story and has nothing to do with football.

Apple vs. Google vs. Microsoft: Apple’s success secrets and possible strategies Microsoft should take now

Apple’s iPod. Apple’s iPhone. Apple’s iPad. And now Apple ‘overtakes’ Microsoft. The picture of a fast moving company’s latest example. Looks like an apple does not fall on the ground due to acceleration due to gravity, but it can fly high in the corporate sky, too. But what’s the inside story?

Is it Steve Job’s magic that made it possible or is it the example of a good corporate strategy?

In my opinion, Microsoft has wrong strategy. It has always concentrated on software and operating systems. Although, Microsoft’s has vast business products, but it main business always revolves around software and Windows. There lies the wrong strategy. Let me discuss the wrong strategy of Microsoft and right strategy of Apple in detail:

Product: Apple’s iPad and iPhone are all tangible products and costs at a ‘reasonable price’ in developed countries and ‘high price’ in developing countries. Windows 7 or MS-Office is reasonably priced worldwide. But Windows 7’s pirated version is widely used and code breakers around the world feel a special fun to generate ‘crack’ or ‘patch’ of the original software developed by Microsoft. Compared to that, I wonder, how many enemies Apple has. How many people or organization have dared to ‘duplicate’ iPad or iPhone? I guess, none! That is the reason where Windows loose profit and Apple gains it.

Branding: all the terms iPod, iPhone, iPad seems like brand names. But ‘Windows Mobile’ does not sound like a brand. Tell me how many Microsoft’s tangible products (if there are any) are branded like iPhone or iPad? You will get less popular answers.

Target audience: Windows OS is targeted at all computer and laptop and Window’s mobile users. But iPod is targeted at music listeners. Apple’s iPhone is targeted at mobile phone users and iPad is made keeping in mind of laptop users, gamers, ebook readers etc. So you can see rather than product upgradation, Apple is more focused on launching different products for people’s varied needs. That relates to better understanding of consumer lifestyles.

Buzz: Everything Apple does, create buzzes. One can remember the long standing queues in front of mobile stores before the launch of iPhone. That happens because of buzzes. Buzz marketing is great for tapping the ears and eyes consumers. Before, launch of any great Apple’s products, you will see, television, web, radio, print media, everywhere Apple is in news headline (and such buzzes last for 1 week to one and a half months). Except the launch of Windows 7, how many times you have noticed buzzes around Microsoft.

Pricing: I use my Nokia phone. In India, the lowest price of a Nokia handset can be still under Rs. 5000/-. Because Nokia, Motorola, Sony has products for all income groups of the society. A good iPhone handset costs around Rs. 30000/-. So when six low-cost Nokia handsets are sold, the profit margin only covers the sale of one iPhone! This is the reason iPhone or ipad sales have such a hiking profit. Also, in India, upper class and middle class’ income is growing. And western country people hardly suffer from loss of money. They are buying Apple products frequently. That way, Apple sees no reason for their products’ price reduction. However, a large market in developing countries remains untapped by Apple.

Has Apple conquered everything on web? Are they the new world leader in IT world?

I think there is no reason to panic. Apple’s does not possess biggest search engine (well, it is Google of course); Apple does not run incredibly popular portals like yahoo.com or MSN.com; Apple’s does not have any nice developing software like .NET or VB6 or C#. And cool graphic icons on iPhone can be designed in Adobe Photoshop or any similar image editing software. So the web world is commonly shared by many big companies. Nobody is actually the leader (not even Apple!)

Apple vs. Google?

Both the companies are extremely innovative. But again, while Google’s products are majorly web based ‘intangible’ applications, Apple is focused on iPod or iPhone like ‘real-life gadgets’. Google has launched its online store like Apple. But that does not mean these two companies should be compared unless they have similar identical products in web world and in real life.

What strategy Microsoft should take to regain its position?

Open new windows: No, I am not talking about new Windows OS (say, Windows 8, 9, 10…), I only mean new windows. That is new segments of business. It is time for Microsoft to have their own real life gadgets.

Buzzes: Consumers love buzzes. Before launching of any new Microsoft ‘branded products’, there should be buzzes. All types of media should be fully utilized. It is very essential in today’s world that when you are launching something, every newspaper should give your product a good rating in their product reviews. I mean reviewers New York Times in USA, Daily Telegraph in UK and TOI or The Telegraph in India must have similar words of applause for your product. That may create buzzes in consumer world and can lead to word-of-mouth marketing. Microsoft must think like that.

Branding and pricing: If users of iPhone get a similar functioning phone with Windows 7 in it, they may give it a try. If Microsoft can innovate their product line with cost effectiveness, a number of consumers can try their products.

Hire lifestyle analyst: All the electronic fairs that are held around the world, bring new and changing consumer trends. If Microsoft and Google are planning to bring electronic gadgets in the market, they should hire some gadget savvy representative. I call them ‘Lifestyle Expert’. These lifestyle experts should attend gadget fairs and prepare reports. Companies should come up with new products based on that research.

Please don’t name your product in a dull manner. Look at Apple. Follow their way of naming the product. It’s not a mobile phone, it is an iPhone. It is not a ‘laptop-kind’ of device, it is an iPad. Position your brand like that.

Bring new faces: I have seen Bill Gates and Steve Jobs on television. What do you think, when you see Bill gates? And what comes on your mind when you see Steve Jobs? I see Bill Gates as ‘an IT guru, who is calm, soft-spoken, techie’. And I see Steve Jobs as my ‘SMART, next-door, tech-savvy neighbour’. These are two different approaches. Consumers always like to identify themselves within the demonstrators. They like the approach of Steve Jobs who demonstrates Apple’s products standing on the stage and interacting with audience. Microsoft has to catch this trend. They need to bring an excellent tech savvy guy, who is young, smart, wise and possibly good looking (Don’t take good looking as a silly phrase. That ever matters at times!)

According to my personal belief, these are some of the simple steps that Microsoft or any company of that caliber should take to stay on top.

What is my take as a consumer on Apple’s products?

Apple’s has been getting a huge success for its products like iPod, iPhone and iPad. There is no denying that Steve Jobs is doing miraculous tasks for a company that was once considered as ‘dying’. But what impact Apple’s last five year’s winning journey will have on my life?

Honestly speaking, I certainly fall in the low level income group. So, I can’t buy iPhone or iPad. And I am not alone. There are millions of people in developing countries, who can buy a lost-cost handset from Nokia or Motorola but can’t buy an iphone. I may search topics on Google from cyber-cafes, use Windows OS or MS Office from other’s computers or login at any moment to my Yahoo! Mail account but I can’t afford to buy an iPhone. Unless, Apple has products for all income groups of the society and I find Apple as part of my daily digital life, I have slight objection for accepting Apple as the global IT leader irrespective of where that big company’s profit level goes.

By the way, I don’t believe in media reports. What I see around me, I believe in that. No reporter’s special product review can make me decide to purchase an iPhone. If my own product judgement seems to me positive and I can afford the product, I am going to buy it. I urge you to be rational like me.

Parents give us the knowledge and inspiration to prosper in life. Their contribution can be compared to the volume of water in a ocean. Nobody can pay back his or her parents’ debts.

Internet is the mother of all media. Be it text or audio or video, you can find everything on internet. The medium of world wide web is our ultimate resource for collecting and sharing information. And who can ignore the enjoyment part of it. Internet is a genuine friend, that can make your mood cheerful at the time of loneliness. People not getting any job can even earn money sitting at home. So internet has become bread earner for them.

Business transaction and communication are totally dependent on Internet. Companies are using corporate blogs to connect with consumers and their clients and employees. Many future notifications and strategies are published via Internet. Distant business meetings are organized by video conferencing and without internet nobody could have imagined it.

Internet has everything to make your virtual life colorful. If you are a newbie writer and want to showcase you work to others, try blogging. You can find friends by social networking sites. Want to know answer of any question? Place your question through appropriate forum. Are you a game freak? Play online games from internet or download them. You can spend hours on internet.

Critics of internet says that spending too much time on internet can be symptoms of cyber addiction. What should a person do if he has no friend in real world or he is not so good at field games. Internet is the place for him to do activities. Yes internet had bad effects. There are cases of cyber crime, internet is the cheapest resource of pornography and hacking is a concern for security experts, but you can’t blame internet for that. As there are good people who have made internet for betterment of human beings, there are bad guys who take advantage of this medium and continue their evil activities. But please don’t blame internet for the bad effects.

Let me come back to the point where I had started. Our parents have unimaginable contribution in our life. When we are established and grown up, we take care of our parents and try to make their life more beautiful. To some people like me internet in the next best friend after parents. From my early adulthood to today’s date, it has caused me to enjoy life more. It is the world of Harry Potter for me. Any idea how we can pay off its debts? At least if we can’t pay it back, can we make our own individual contribution to keep this medium moving forward?

How ‘ethical’ is ethical hacking?

Some people consider stealing as an art. But can art bring miseries to one’s life? Specially, when somebody is stealing your personal data online, then you call it art by no means. In fact, you will think that person who is responsible for stealing your personal data, should be tracked down and punished.

Hacking as the term suggests stealing someone’s or any organization’s private data by breaking into firewall. Hackers who work for security agencies are treated as ‘superheroes’. Specially, when someone is hacking in favour of his country’s government, nobody calls him a villain.

The whole activity of hacking has got a new viewpoint. In the name of terrorism, common people’s websites, computers and email ids will be hacked by the security agencies for the cause of baseless ‘suspicion’. You may not be aware that your cyber café’s activities will be recorded and your personal information will be secretly read by somebody else.

Is that ethical? You call hacking an ‘ethical’ activity? I think the term ‘ethical hacking’ is rubbish. Hacking is stealing. And no stealing can be ethical even if someone’s doing it for national or patriotic cause.

Many ethical hacking courses are coming in the market now a days. But the ‘ethics’ of the students are hardly judged before admission of the courses. What if bad guys as students know the tricks of hacking in this way? And some hacking software are available on internet which can be easily downloaded and used. Moreover, there are forums on hacking on internet. Cyber law of every country should be made tough on hacking and not everybody should be made eligible for an ethical hacking course.

Hacking is not a course like hardware, software or networking. It is very risky and only ‘good guys’ should learn about this subject for their own system’s security purpose.

A Ghost Story : An Actor's Last Act

Ramesh Kapoor. The name became very famous in Hindi serials for the past 4-5 years. The man who started his career as a call center employee, got a guest actor role in the most popular serial, ‘When Love Happens…’ on New TV. After that Ramesh had no looking back in his career. He became youth icon and heartthrob of many women. He has also bagged the prize of best TV actor of the year for the past two years.
I was a blind fan of Mr. Ramesh. I tried to copy his hairstyle, dresses, speaking style etc. When he came to Kolkata’s City Centre last December to promote an event, I was among many guys who rushed there to get a glimpse of him. And I was one of those luckiest guys on earth who somehow managed to get autograph from him in that overcrowded place.

Yesterday when I got the news, I could not believe my own ears. It was the most shocking news for RK fans. Ramesh Kapoor did suicide!

No matter how much successful he was in profession, he was never happy in his personal life. His first wife died in cancer. Then he married another woman who divorced him 6 months before from now. Frustrated Ramesh started drinking alcohol. He attended nightclubs and parties. He misbehaved and bit people there after drinking excessive alcohol. He was not getting new offers from the serial makers. A great actor’s career ended so miserably.

Mohan is my elder brother. He is 34, unmarried. He spent last three years in Raigarh for the purpose of job. Recently, he came back to Kolkata. During his stay at Raigarh, he learnt new things. He and one of his colleagues did some researches about supernatural entities and they usually conducted planchette sessions on weekends. Me brother feels very irritated when somebody asks him about his planchette sessions. I got a weird idea in my mind. Can he bring RK’s soul? I want to know how is he? Where is he? Is he still unhappy?

I told my plan to Mohan. Initially he just refused and gave excuses like planchette requires mental toughness and one needs to have dead person’s used things to call the spirit. I showed him RK’s autograph on my diary. And I boldly said him that I am no kid and ready for planchette.

We had taken dinner 3 hours before. Mohan and me were sitting in candle light with a square shaped box on our dining table. Our dining room had almirah, fridge, a TV set apart from this table. Mohan told me to keep my hands on RK’s autograph in my diary and think about his acting memoirs. He started murmuring some peculiar dialogues. Then `suddenly he stopped. There was total silence in the room. I don’t know how much time we passed. Then it started! Our chairs and dining table were shaking like earthquake and the square shaped box broke into pieces. Mohan whispered, ‘He has come.’ Suddenly our television started. Some horrible scenes were waiting for us. I saw RK inside TV screen. Blood and foam were coming out of his mouth. And his eyes seemed like black holes. It was like he was in another serial. He was standing on the edge of the top of a building. He was going to suicide. For one second, I forgot reality. I shouted, ‘Please don’t do this! We love you!’ For once, he looked back and stayed at me. A devilish smile cam out of his mouth and then he jumped! Our TV shuts down just after that.

My brother whispered, ‘That’s how he died.’

We sat still for the next 15 minutes. Then Mohan turned on the lights. I was still sitting like a robot. Suddenly, my eyes fell on the diary. Where was the autograph page gone?

‘The unstable spirit has taken the thing from you that belonged to him,’ my brother lamented.

KaliPuja 2009: celebration of sound

Kolkata experienced Noise pollution at its level best as daily dose of Objectionable crackers bursted and made enough inconvenience for city's peace loving citizens. This year I took personal initiative by informing police about use of illegal
crackers. But during nights of Diwali and Kalipuja, demons of sound came back. They started their usual fireworks with earsplitting sounds.

Is that Kalipuja and Diwali all about? We wanted peaceful festival of light. During night I didn't see any cops stopping miscreants. Goddess Kali is regarded as the angry form of all Hindu goddesses. But it seems to me even her anger was not enough to stop miscreants.

Police is targeting wrong people. They are taking action against illegal fireworks sellers. But what about the buyers of the crackers? Many dare to burn crackers on open roads and ground floors of their house. They can be easily caught and arrested.
Transparency and coordination among cops are very important to catch miscreants.
I wish politicians and environmentalists will join hands to eliminate excessive sounds during our annual festival named Diwali.

Ever since, I consider myself as a foodie and connoisseur of cookies or sweets, chocolate unofficially became part of my weekly menu and my digestive system.
I prefer milk and white chocolates rather than dark chocolates. When one of students offered me a dark chocolate, I tasted it but didn’t like the bitter-sweet taste it has.
Chocolates have become part of my personal celebration. During Dashami of Bengali people’s biggest festival Durga Puja, I hardly ate chocolates, but during Christmas and family occasions, chocolate became ‘an item’ for the events. The feeling of melted sweet chocolate doing down your throat is simple a divine pleasure.
It’s an irony that children don’t like to drink milk daily, but they jump of chocolate gifts made of condensed milk.
Chocolates are good for healthy diets and they may keep down your blood pressure – says experts. But, now you know, I just don’t eat chocolate for such reasons!
If I have my pocket even half filled with money, I just go to a groceries shop and buy chocolate bars and chocolate gift items of my choice. I pay the money and get it. Fortunately, I never ‘earned’ a chocolate. I have always purchased or gifted chocolates. That’s didn’t minimize in any way my ‘basic instinct’ for tasting more and more chocolates. Number Game

My date of birth dies not contain the number 7. and I am not going to talk about seven days of week or seven secrets to become successful in life. All I want is to tell you how seven is related in my life.
In my first technical technical training, I was given an identification number. That number was 52. Add 5 and 2. you get seven. I went my technical training place by a bus. Its number was 223. Add these digits, again you get 7.
I got thrilled by this number when I saw popular movies of James Bond, with license to kill. I only had self-perceived license to thrill people. However number 7 always had a special meaning to me.
Number seven relates to my competitive mentality. I have faced some good competitors, bad competitors and mediocre competitors. Against all three of these categories of competitors I wanted to come out as a clear winner: ‘number 1’. If you convert number 7 to binary number, the number becomes ‘111’. This number better describes my attitude.

If I write my name as Bishwajit Ganguly, you will find that total number of characters in my name become 16. Add 1 and 6 to get 7.

One seven number was with me from my date of birth. I belong to Ganguly fanily. Count the number of characters in the word ‘Ganguly’. You can write it as Gangoly, Ganguli etc. In all the cases the characters in the surname sum up to give 7 as output.

The Story of Another Subhas

“Subhas Ghore Phere Nai.” Was a book on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Its title meant Netaji still did not return to his home. Another Subhas went away from his ‘Ghar’(Home). And this home was a structure made by love of the masses.
The second Subhash was our West Bengal transport minister, late Subhas Chakraborty who has just passed away. I never shared any political views with him. And I a 100%, politically neutral person. I’ve met him twice face-to-face in my life. He didn’t reflect image of a comrade but a true human being and a great leader.
His opponent in the state always believed in to defeat him in the next Bidhansava Election. They can’t do so now. Subhas Chakraborty continued his life as an undefeated leader. He would continue to do so even after his death.
Why Mr. Chakraborty was different from other Marxists? Subhas Chakraborty was seen in the temple of Hindu Goddess which his other colleagues have not done. He supported state’s opponent party in many issues. Most importantly, he repeatedly criticized some of his own party’s activities, which very few CPM leaders or Marxists have ever done! He had the gut to do that again and again and he still got away with it. Because, his name was Subhas Chakraborty.
He was a CPM leader. His death has made him a leader of the masses. No political color I want here!

Blending professionalism with creative art for website designing is in the hands of limited expert designers. In many cases, designers put too much graphics on the web pages as part of their brilliant graphic display and their sites yet get low search engine rankings. The reason is simple. They ignore text content.

No matter what stunning graphics, flash animations or videos are put on the site, they should match with the content and theme of the site. If you have a site of nutrition and somebody designs a gaming-site-like-template for your site, then you can feel how awkward it would be to view the site. Nightmare, right?

Designer should not overdo the site’s design work. Rather, his work should support the website’s business and salability of its product(s) or service(s).

MCA and MBA : Are these couses worth?
Now-a-days, after the courses like B.E., B.Tech., M.B.B.S. and C.A., the two courses
Which many students in India opt for are MBA and MCA. Now in this post, I don’t want to talk much about MCA course. Rather, I would focus on MBA course. Now, MCA course is perceived to be equivalent to the B.E. degree in the computer science. But in most of the universities, which offer MCA courses, you won’t find a proper infrastructure. Also faculties coming to teach computer science are less experienced or are not skilled and most of them are less meritorious. What is saddening part of the course is that computer software market is frequently updated and upgraded. But the university syllabus for the course remains almost the same year after year. So the students passing out of the MCA course do not become ‘industry ready’ and as a matter of fact they have to undergo more ‘trainings’ on specific softwares.
The second course is MBA. This course is more popular than the MCA course because of the ever growing popularity of the IIMs. More and more students are giving the entrance exams of management like CAT, MAT etc. Most students or aspirants who opt for MBA, are not even aware of the type of jobs that they will get. For about the IIMs… what percertage of the total aspirants get chances in the IIMs? Very less. Most students study in some B+ or B graded schools. They even don’t know that after two years of they graduation they get jobs of ordinary sales guys if they take marketing specialization. Even I have seen my friend who took finance specialization in his MBA course, currently doing a simple ‘field job’. There are people who are doing field jobs after MBA. Had they knew that they will be offered such jobs, they won’t have invested lacks of Rupees for studying MBA. In low graded B-Schools, faculties are not trained about conducting case study sessions. Also, think about the job offer differences between IIMs and low rated B- Schools. While a fresh graduate from IIM get lacks of Rupees offer (per month) as his starting salary, a typical B-graded B-School graduate gets Rs. 7000/- to Rs. 10,000/- per month offer. Companies also prefer not MBA guys but ‘Qualified People’ (i.e. a graduate or even a 10+2 level passed!) with specific domain experiences. Then what’s the reason for studying MBA? Another thing is less number of companies are taking MBA people as management trainees. So, for getting an ‘entry level’ ordinary sales job, why study MBA? Actually in the post of managers, the demand is less and the supply is more. And some B-Schools are taking 120 students per batch for PGDM or MBA courses. There is no government rule to control number of students intake for private B-Schools. Also, in the low rated B-Schools, every candidate is cleared through the GD+PI session. As a result, less talented students are getting chances for studying MBA and private institutions are allowing them for more profit. This self-destroying system should be stopped immediately. But I blame not the B-Schools but the media for the over-popularity of MBA course. In several newspapers educational supplement, a big space is wasted for MBA entrance guide and information about business schools. Many good students’ careers are misguided by such articles in the newspapers and these students go for MBA entrances. These newspapers educational sections should be banned for misguiding generations after generations. Then after two years of ‘enjoyable’ study, these students find a black & white field job in front of them. Also I forgot to say, in many organizations, female candidates are preferred more than male candidates. Getting chances at IIMs is reality for few but getting a frustrating start of ‘management carrier’ is a close reality for many.
Then should everybody stop doing MBA? The answer is NO. Those people having their own business, can go for MBA. People having prior work experience can opt for MBA. And people having flair for marketing field can pursue management in sales/ finance/ HR for future prospects. And institutes giving single specialization offers, having poor cam placement records and taking illegal money in the name course fees, should be banned by the government for conducting further MBA or PGDM programmes.

War on terrorism – ‘a 360 degree’ thinking

Every strategy that is taken by Indian government against terrorism, is not only very conventional but also quite irritating for the common people because they have to face all sorts of harassments by police and army. To stop an incident, you have to find the ‘cause’ of the incident and you have to do a detailed analysis of the incidence. Following measures may be taken to stop terrorism :
No ‘Breaking News’ : every time a blast occurs, news channels show breaking news on the bloodshed. Since mass killing is a sensitive issue, it must be dealt with sympathy and grief and not with breaking-news mentality.
Media positioning : whenever you win against somebody and you call your opponent a ‘looser’, he becomes angry and thinks of the revenge. Do say, ‘Indian army today successfully killed 3 terrorists in an encounter…..’ or ‘Operation XYZ finished’, report that ‘Indian army defended their motherland against three militants who all died in the encounter’. In this way, terrorists will also understand that we are not attacking, we are only doing defense and hence we are the peace keeper and peace maker.
Another positioning is that terrorism is not only a political cause but it’s also a social cause, since, most of the terrorists come from poor class of society and most of them are not much educated. Ad- makers should think about that.
Human Face of admin. : common people prefer to stay away from the army and police forces because of their possible brutal behavour. All those special forces, whose indulge in keeping our city safe from terrorism, must behave like normal persons. I thing, one out of every five police or army people should be given short term HR-training on behavioral skills. This simple initiative can solve many unwanted civic harassment. Also, most of the police should be in plane dresses such that common people don’t feel scared.
Restriction on usage of CCTV : Due to this buzz of possible terror attacks, every small organization is using CCTV. They may have the possibility to use this TV for business purposes or other bad reasons also. So, if anybody installs CCTV, he has to take permission from local police station.
Focus on community development: every community or religion or cast should be treated equally not as per its religion but also as per its geographical/ regional presence and culture. I mean, if Kashmiris see that people from different states are coming to their states and reigning on them and most of them are not highly educated and still are not part of India’s mainstream politics, sports, business etc., then they may naturally have a common hatred against rest of India. They are thinking that if they remains part of India, then one day their culture will become extinct. Under such circumstances, terrorists are only misguiding these people to fulfill their evil mission. Our education minister must see the development in terms of education in the states like Kashmir and other north-eastern states such that youths in these regions can have the freedom of thought. Also, since, travel and tourism industry in these states is largely affected due to terrorism, Government should give loans to the unemployed youths of these states such that they can start their own business. Then the number of people joining terror groups will be reduced.
Follow Tata’s example : I personally think that the step taken by Sir Ratan Tata by reopening the hotel in Mumbai showed that Indians are not at all afraid of terrorism any more. Top level Indians’ body language should be just like Mr. Tata.
Strengthen the border security force : Since, most of the terrorists come from the camps based on outside of India, so our border-security should be strong and more recruitments should be done. Hidden cameras should be there in the border regions which will be taking automatic pictures of moving objects even in the darkness of night and under extreme temperatures.
Change the song : I think, the concept of an eminent singer singing patriotic songs on 26th January or on 15th August is very old. The best way of war against terrorism is to spread the essence of patriotism. Instead of old patriotic songs, spectacular ads should be used in print media, FM channels, television and also on internet. Celebrate Independence Day or Republic Day with a blast in the states of north-east India or in Kashmir. Media should also give publicity to those events rather than giving publicity to Delhi’s special celebration process. Free foods, chocolates, balloons, and patriotic leaflets should be distributed to the kids and common people by the government officials in the militant driven states.
Repositioning terror driven states : The image that Kashmir has nationally and internationally is getting worse day by day. Have we even seen any film on Kashmir whose story is not based on terrorism? Make new documentaries on Kashmir which should bring other problems that Kashmiris are facing. Same process should be followed for other similar states also.
Hidden attacks on Terrorists’ head quarters : India’s defense and foreign ministers must plan for possible commando attacks on the foreign land soil to ruin terrorists’ training camps.
By following these measures, India may be not virtually but actually free from terrorism.

Gangu’s day out at Gherao FM

You know that sometimes, peculiar things happen to common people. In my case that thing happened last week. I was invited in a chat show conducted by Gherao FM RJ Fishy-ka ( Her name’s spelling is Fishika ). Gherao FM is a vast region’s first (and let be it the last one also) women’s Radio station. The idea behind their chat show was each week they will invite a listener to they studio who will rightly answer three of their questions. Thankfully, I answered all the questions and got selected. Don’t even think that I am good at G.K., Maths or literature. The three questions were:- 1) How many children do you have? , 2) Did you know before that Sri Lanka’s capital is Colombo?, 3) How much your family love Gherao FM?
I said, “300%,” as the last question’s answer. The person from Gerao FM questioned, “Why 300%? Why not 100%?” I said,” It’s because I have three family members, each having 100% love for your concern”. The next day I got a call to visit their studio.
On a fine Sunday I was finally able to enter their ‘live show’ studio room with my favourite RJ Fishika.
Fishika: Welcome to the Gherao family. Since you have come you our live show as an invitee, we won’t ‘gherao’ you (just for today) for being ‘man’.
Gangu: But what is my guilt if I am a man?
Fishika: See, Gherao FM is specially for women and for those ‘men’ who are like women.
Gangu: What do you mean by ‘who are like women’? Are you supporters of ‘third-sex’?
Fishika: No,no, just a slip of tongue! I just wanted to say, those ‘men’ who like women. That’s all.
Gangu: Are you a feminist?
Fishika: Yes, I am. Me and my concern want to build a womankind where there will be no place for men.
Gangu: Do you know what’s the full form of the word ‘Feminist’?
Fishika: No I don’t. What’s it by the way?
Gangu: The full form of the word Feminist is ‘ FEmales campaigning for wearing MINI skirts FirST (not sarees or Salwar Kameez).
Fishika: Ah, such a great definition of our long time battle!
Gangu: See, this definition is also made by a man.
Fishika: That’s why we hate men! Most of the time we create the show and they ‘steal’ it.
Gangu: Do you think that all the men are thieves?
Fishika: Just go and ask their wives.
Gangu: What if the man is unmarried?
Fishika: Then go and ask his lover?
Gangu: And what if he hasn’t any lover?
Fishika: Then I don’t know………..
Gangu: Okay, let’s change the topic. I have heard that each day you RJs pick an unique topic related to ‘men’s bad habits’ and take women’s [and also from some men ‘who like women’ ] feedback on that. And your listeners enthusiastically criticize those habits citing examples from their personal lives. From where you get such topics?
Fishika: We have a great RJ named Fun-ita who takes ‘Fun ‘ to continuously search new topics on men’s bad habits. She is an MBA (Men Bullying Authority) and for her revolutionary work one day she will get a Nobel.
Gangu: Since, Funita’s quest for ‘man’s bad habits’ is all about ‘Fun’ she will get an IgNoble but not a Nobel. By the way, what’s the topic for Funita’s today’s programme?
Fishika: I don’t know. Unofficially speaking it’s perhaps, why idiotic men loose so much of their hair?
Gangu: Hey, that’s not a bad habit! It can have various medical reasons.
Fishika: Absolutely not. Idiotic men loose hair because they become jealous of women’s beautiful trendy hairs formed properly by half-a-dozen hair creams and shampoos by beautiful hair designers.
Gangu: And it’s also for wasting a lumpsum of money at beauty parlours per week, fortnightly or monthly.
Fishika: Enough is enough! So dear radio friends, hence my beautiful conversation gets completed with this moron who is just one of those persons who should not be called in our studio any more. Thank you Mr. Gangu for coming to the show.

Gangu, Traffic Police & Terrorism

The other day, I, Sri Bishnu Kumar Ganguram, with my friend Samrat was returning home on a bike. No, mine was not the John Abraham’s position; it was my friend Samrat who was riding the two-wheeler. Suddenly, near Gariahat bridge, one traffic police ‘attacked’ us. He raised his bold Lathi upwards us and commanded us to park our bike at the left side of the road. And we did that. When he came closer, he said to me, “Show me your bag.”
I thought, he is interested about what my bag contains? So, I just opened up my bag’s chains to show him my pens, diaries and my mouth-watering snacks.
Then he said, “It’s not needed; I have metal detector”
He moved his instrument on my bag from top to bottom and from left to right and found nothing. He also verified the license of our bike. It seemed to me that his face was pretty much disappointed.
He exclaimed in frustration, “Oh, half of the day passed and I didn’t find anything! If I don’t get a single terrorist caught red handed by me, then how can I be promoted for higher position?”
Now I understood why he was searching us. I asked him, “Sir, what made you think that we are terrorists?”
He quickly replied, “Your friend has a black T’ shirt and you have a black coloured bag. That’s why you guys are my prime suspect. Our intelligence agencies [Our intelligent agencies are so intelligent that whatever they do in an intelligent, secret manner, common people don’t understand those . So, they think that our intelligent agencies aren’t actually working at all. ] have said that some armed terror groups have recently arrived in Kolkata and they carries some black coloured things…may be shirts, pants, trousers, briefcases, bags……….anything. ”
I added, “Moustache and hair also?”
He said, “Nah, now-a-days, everybody is ‘colouring’ his or her hair or moustache. So we have kept these things out of our list.”
I said, “See, we are common people. Even I look like a common guy; I have ordinary glasses, bald head, cotton shirt and pant and I don’t have long beard or any special hat on my face.”
“That’s why I still think that you guys may be terrorists. Because, terrorists are so common that they are difficult to identify. By the way, why are you carrying a black coloured bag?”
“Because, I purchased this black coloured bag from college street. It is my bag; that’s why. But tell me honestly, are you a black hater? Have you launched your campaigns against all people having ‘black belt’? ”
“Who are these people having ‘black belt’?”
“All top Karate specialists have black belt. This art of Karate originated from China, as I know.”
“Oh, I knew it! So, terrorists actually belong to China!”
“No, no, you misunderstand; Karate is a game of self - defense. And tell me why Men in Black flopped at box office? Was that because of your police actions?”
“What is ‘Men in Black’?”
“‘Men in Black’ are secret agents who deals with aliens.”

I felt trouble. I don’t carry my voter ID card all the time and I think hardly anybody does! I said, “ I don’t have the voter ID at this moment. I have it at home. And it actually has no value for me. My card has expired long before.”
The traffic police suddenly became enthusiastic. He shouted, “Ah-ha, a vital clue. You said your card has expired. That means you have a false voter ID card. You are afraid of showing me that. That’s why you are lying that it has expired. If a third degree is applied on you in a local police station, then I’m sure that you will commit your crime.”
I felt very scared. I said, “No, it’s absolutely true. After my voter ID card expired, I went to Mayukh Bhavan for the card renewal and applied for the issue of a new voter ID card. But the GOVT. official there wes so worthless, he didn’t take care of my problems and did not do anything and I just ‘wasted’ my two consecutive days for that job. Then, I could not take any more leave from my office and I thought if our political leaders do not care for issue of new voter ID cards for voters like us, then why should we be bothered? But after some days, I registered my name in BHAAGORE.COM, which campaigns for voting right of every people. I told them about my problem. They said their campaign is just for ‘show’, and it is only for brand promotion of their tea brand ‘Turmoil Tea’. So I understood that BHAAGORE.COM guys who show on TV screen that drinking their tea will make the ‘awakening’ among people, were actually ‘sleeping’ in case of ,my problem! This is the story of misfortune.”
Meanwhile, a ‘Vendi-ca CS-420’ car passed by us and although the car had no number plate and although our traffic police commanded with his lathi to stop the car, the proud driver of the car plyaing a high sound music, perhaps an idiot son of a rich non-Bengali businessman thought it was a perfect heroism to disobey the traffic rules of Kolkata.
Our angry traffic police talked on the walky-talky telling officials about the description of the car. He was now standing a more distant from us than he was before. Then he slowly came back to us.
My friend Samrat kept mum during all our conversation. Now, he opened his mouth, “Leave us for this time, sir. We have seriously done no crime.”
The traffic police thought for a moment; he took our names, addresses and mobile numbers and gave a formal warning to obey traffic rules and suddenly said, “Get the hell out of here.”
Perhaps, he understood harassing common people is not the task of police. There are greater traffic offenders on the streets of Kolkata. Catching them is a bigger task. That day in the evening I saw in the news that police has searched the whole day for explosives on Howrah station and some selected places of kolkata and unfortunately found nothing. Actually terror lies our mind. We have to eliminate it....

VELOCITY OF LIFE
The other day, I got an SMS on my mobile. It said, “young_Indian: Progress has little to do with speed, but much to do with direction. So always concentrate on your direction not on the speed”. My fellow young Indian wants to teach me a good lesson. There is no doubt about that. But today, when everybody is concentrating on SMS text ‘shortening’ culture, I wonder why the sender has used so many words to describe a simple thing! From school, I have learnt that speed with proper direction is called ‘velocity’. Nowhere in his / her message I found the proper word. Now, let’s come to the substance of his message. Today we are all matured guys and most of us know where to proceed through our career path. But right speed not only requires proper direction but it also needs proper investment at the right time. So a good strategy and budget can fulfill our desire. I had derived my own terminology on the issue before this SMS came to me. I call this ‘fastness with accuracy+money’. That’s the main thing for reaching goals. Sometimes, mindset changes also make impact on our target paths. One of my good friends took marketing as his career. Now with the passing of time his body did not permit to work more on fields. So now, he is learning softwares to become a programmer. Hope, he got a right direction. I’m still searching for my required Velocity. I have to rely on my knowledge, skill, hard work and opportunities (perhaps combination of all these is known as luck) to pass through the bad patches / tough phases of my life. Beijing Olympics And Football
Beijing Olympics has put a very tough challenge for London. It was well organized and the Chinese officials leaving no stone unturned to make this event a huge success. If you just look at the opening and the closing ceremony then you will understand how the organizers have perfected the art of big event management.
Two big gain from this Olympic was Abhinav Bindra’s winning Gold in Rifle Shooting and Argentina winning gold for male football. Abhinav’s case was India’s first individual gold medal and Argentina again came to spotlight of football after her gold medal. Although a frustrating outcome was Roger Federer’s loss in Tennis Singles (myself a Federer fan and not a Rafa supporter). Kudos to Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt for getting their ‘Legendary’ athlete status at Olympics.
Argentina has been struggling for a long time for winning a championship. Forget about their last world cup performance, even at Copa America cup, they lost to arch-rival Brazil in the final. Great frustration was built after that. But a true champion’s career graph is NOT all about winning, stupid! An emphatic win will hardly teach you anything. You will be surrounded by your fans and nobody will question about your tactical faults and game strategy. But after a Great loss, you will be brutally criticized and some of the criticisms will be positive criticisms. After their unwanted debacle at some championship finals, Argentineans learnt many things and they tried to apply those at Olympics. Thankfully, they are true champions and they know how to come back in the game and how to take Revenge. After Argentina’s 1-0 triumph over Nigeria, one Bengali newspapers’ journalist has written that Argentina won the title due to luck factor and Messi Magic. Luck can give you one goal. But not three goals. Argentina should not be called ‘lucky’ after crushing Brazil 3-0 at Olympics. Actually most of our media persons are Brazilian football supporters. So they disliked or hated Argentina’s victory over football giant Brazil. That’s why they show bitter ignorance to Argentina’s gold winning football team. When Brazil wins any football title, all the TV channels repeatedly show the replays or clippings of the strikers’ goals. But now, I have not seen any match replay on television after Argentina’s historic win. Also, Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium’s fans showed the football enthusiasm breaking all geographical boundaries to prove that we are one-football world.
A clever politics: When Brazil wins you will see the photograph of how a Brazilian striker pushing the ball into net and how frustrated the opponent players are after the match.. When Argentina wins, you will see Messi and Ronaldinho shaking hands at the center line before the match started, showing a false picture or creating an image of how Brazilians have always been supportive to Argentina’s football culture. And like due to sympathy and friendly attitude Brazilians gifted the match results in favour of Argentina! Argentina’s win against Brazil clearly proves that Argentina is simply a better team than Brazil at present. And the match was not gifted to Argentina. I don’t say Brazilian football team ‘get’ victory since I don’t want to show disrespect to Brazilian football fans’ emotions. But I must mention that Argentinean football team knows how to ‘earn’ victory and ‘achieve’ success. Football legend Maradona’s followers get yet another feet to celebrate. Whatever be the opposition from football playing rival countries and ignorance from media persons, Argentina will continue to be world’s one of the greatest superpowers in the game of football. Long live Maradona, long live football!

Action-Bat Flies Again!

I like to imagine fantasy heroes. The hero whom I like most in the comics world is Superman. Batman comes a close second. Like Superman, Batman has the dual identity too. Bruce Wayne really does a good job as Batman! Batman stories always thrill me like ditective stories. Still I find Batman movies less exciting than Superman movies. Because you can always portray Christopher Reeves as Superman. But for batman’s role, there is no single actor. Except George Clooney, I did not like anybody else in the Batman’s role. Rather in the movies of Batman, I support all the villain characters. Among, all the villain characters, I like Riddler (played by Jim Carrey in the movie). Then comes Mr. Freeze. After him the other villains like Poison Ivy ( Uma Thurman) and Two-Face ( Tonny Lee Jones). I saw the news recently that Anjelina Jolie may play Cat Woman in the upcoming Batman movie. Joker is the most famous enemies of Batman. He clearly knows how the Bat flies! Penguin is there to help him. We understand that if these villains would not perfectly characterized then Batman would have been only a Gotham city phenomenon!
So, the Bold Knight of Darkness comes back again in the form of ‘The Dark Knight”. And don’t try to have “fun” like Joker since Batman does not like that.

Advantage of search engines

Now-a-days there is a debate that are search engines making us dull? I believe that those who think like that are stupid themselves. Following are the advantages of search engines:-

Quick findings : - you can find information in a very convenient time. Almost in 2-3 seconds. If there won’t be search engines, it would even take a week to find the same information from library.

Cost effective:- like any other services of computer and internet, these search engines are more cost effective than any other offline search processes.

Category wise search:- be it books, or be it images, videos, softwares, you can the topics as you wish.

Keywords match:- which putting words in the search box, we can see a ‘combo drop down’ menu is coming giving suggestion of likely words that we want to search. Some people argues that stops our thinking process. But then not everybody searches on internet putting one finger on keyboard and the other on a hardcopy of dictionary! For common people the general search options / suggestions should be available. If someone still insists that availability of search options makes our brain dull, then I have to say that the same thing is done by Television, radio etc. Do we throw off our our television set or radio set for that? Or, we keep enjoying these media again and again?

Business promotion: plenty of business promotions of several websites are done through search engines. Nobody can deny that.

All the search engines like Google.com, Askjeeves.com, Altavista.com are “helping” net users to match keywords better. They have no intention to block our imagination. By providing word suggestions, they are actually releasing pressure from our brains.

The very first time, I opened the page of cuil.com, I had a feeling of going to the ‘unknown zone’. Generally, I have a perception that the sites whose home page’s background colour is ‘black’ generally are suspicious websites. Now, cuil keeps its background colour black which seemed quite irritating to me. Then, I typed keywords for searching. Many highlighted ‘relevant’ keywords immediately came from the search box ( like a combo box). The font in the search box were in ‘bold’ format which also I did not like (Not so ‘Cool’, eh!). When my search results came I saw more search results than I found in Google for the same keywords. But, in case of searching on net, I value ‘qualitative search results’ rather than ‘quantitative search results’. I saw most of the important page links found in Cuil were also available in Google on its first page.
Actually, Google can easily adopt the technology used by Cuil. But Google’s strategy is keeping its page short and simple. It keeps its background white and fonts in the search box is regular and search results are ‘valid’ in most of the cases. This gives Google the Corporate Look. In Cuil search you will get some picture preview of the website which may / may not give you some perception of the search results. Now, I did not get the provision to check Cuil’s filtered search options. Google has no fear from Cuil because, the search engine keeps constantly innovating and adding new features to itself which Cuil still has to adopt.

Frustration

I don’t know how frustration comes to me or to anybody else. But whenever it come we get negatively motivated and the desire to excel in work gets vanished. The mental state is a thing which I feel still unable to control. It seems to me sometimes that the whole environment surrounding me wants to have less communication with me and the elements of the environment slowly but steadily want to break all my plans and actions. Still I know that I have to fight and have to win. This has become a routine job for me which clearly frustrates me. Frustrated people want to get out of the conventional system and same is the condition for me. I want to rebuild some social processes but have lack of power to do so. I am not the only one who lives in an unplanned city, who does an monotonous job and who is forced to become a stereotype by our social system. Problem is that we stay apart from each other. We are not integrated. We are all alone. Our work is scheduled. Perhaps next few decades will generate some robots of frustration who in their last phase of their life will be converted to psychiatric patients. Even methodical entertainment will frustrate people then that I am feeling now.

Bilaspur

It is said about the Bengalis that they love to travel places. Although, I am an Bengali person still I like my city Kolkata rather than going somewhere else. For last 2-3 days I have to come to Bilaspur for the purpose of work. Bilaspur’s temperature is now nearly 40 degree Celsius. It’s too hot over here. There is a hot summer ahead of us. If you go two minutes walking distance, you will find out one stall of fruit juice. Cost of living is higher in Bilaspur compared to Kolkata. The place where I live has no TV, fridge or, FM Radio set. I can get only facility of accessing internet if my boss permits. It seems to me that I shall become mad if I don’t get any of the facilities. I am expecting to travel some rural land in Chhattisgarh state in next couple of weeks.

Bilaspur’s people has taken their personal precautions while riding bikes during afternoon time. They wrap clothes on their mouths and heads such that blow of hot air can not harm them. Bilaspur has less traffic jams and here the number of women bike riders excessively more compared to my city Kolkata. Almost each office in Bilaspur has a cooler. To get rid of scorching heat, people drink lots of ‘Lassi’ ( a drink made with curds ) and other ‘Fal – Sharbats’ (fruit juices ). I have seen many temples in Bilaspur which shows the people here are pious in nature. Lots of Bengali people live at Bilaspur. Even some shops’ names contain the word Kolkata. Roads here becomes dusty at the day time because of hot and dry climate. But Bilaspur has less pollution compared to Kolkata. I have heard from people that during fifties decade, Kolkata was a less polluted city. Now, with the change of time it has become overcrowded and pollution has increased with population. It would be interesting to watch what would be Bilaspur’s condition when the city will be ‘changed’ and overcrowded like our today’s Kolkata.

Pollution control and India : Case of Bio - Fuel
Whenever I go for a walk at my locality or anywhere in Kolkata, I see garbage everywhere lying haphazardly on roads or footpathpaths and no one cares to clear them properly. Except this one, Kolkata, like other metro cities of India has several other pollutions. And now we all know that Tata Group has brought for us a motor of first of its kind, called Tata Nano. I personally like Mr. Ratan Tata, his initiative and his contribution to Indian Automobile industry but have we ever imagined the rise in pollution level when Nano will finally run on Indian roads? With more companies coming to automobile industry and small cars increasing like viruses it is time to think about the alternative fuel. Cars run on diesel can use bio – diesel which has less pollution. In India, the campaign for bio – diesel has already started and it requires several trees from which bio – diesel can be produced. These trees are jatropha, castor, caranj etc. Several companies are showing interests in the plantation of these trees and extracting bio – diesel from them. Indian Government and several non – governmental organizations have shown interests for cultivation of such trees. Carbon Credit system is still to come in this country. If several factories are charged money for emitting a large amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, then pollution control may be less. Also the garbage in the streets should be tried to convert as renewable source of energy and further researches should be done whether they can be used as components fuel or any other energy sources. If progress is done as per plans then India will be among those countries who pollute the world less with proper care on automobile pollution control.

Recently one TV channel showed children’s exposure to net and what responsibilities should be taken by the internet authorities of different organizations such that the kids can get access to only knowledgeable sites. On today’s era, when everybody has heard about the adult content on the web, a simple way to stop kids’ access to unauthorized and porn sites would be ‘to block’ such sites by using suitable software. There are cases of child abuse on the web. To stop that, social networking sites can generate subdivisions of their websites specially for children. For example, MySpace.com can build a new site under it in the name say, MySpace4Kids.com or can have a division for kids in their main site with such model url – http://www.myspace.com/kids. By taking such measure, children’s world and emotions on the web can be separated from that of adult people atleast in the SNSs.
School teachers can also play a crucial role by telling children only about some websites dedicated to young age groups. For that school teachers should also be Netizens and they should access net who know which site is offering what.
Many parents buy computers and take internet connections without knowing the ‘online requirement’ of their families. As a result they remain indifferent of what their children are accessing or viewing. If a child is gone in a wrong way on the web, his or her parents can not be declared not-guilty. A monitoring system should be built to check what the child is accessing with interests from his or her parents.
Children have the imagination of their own. It is the responsibility of us to help them to continue that.

You have no idea how much ‘SWOT analysis’ I had to do to get your primary attention. I have no ‘Strength’ only ‘Weaknesses’. My ‘Threat’ was from your Father and your other boyfriends. Instead of calling me a playboy, he should have taken a ‘360 degree feedback’ on me from my friends, parents and locality people. I tried to tell him our relationship was not materialistic ( ‘intangible Product’ ) and it was ‘Price’-less. I just wanted to ‘Promote’ our love going to ‘Places’ like Central Park once in a month but he turned a deaf ear to me.

Finally, you decided to marry somebody else who was handsome, rich. Your marriage (‘Merger’ with your life partner) took place one month before from now. Before marriage, you met me once to tell me about your changed ‘Attitude’ and I gave you only one clear-cut answer: I have no option except to ‘Diversify’ our relationship.

I guess, you are enjoying your new ‘Job’ as a housewife and your ‘Induction’ process in new environment was not affected by anybody.

It’s again February, the month of love. Valentine’s day is very near to us. The newest trend in Indian teenagers is everybody should have ‘friends’ of opposite sex. Today’s teenagers believe that love and physical relations can be only among ‘friends’. One who is not interested in making friends of opposite sex may be termed as gay, lesbian or even simply bookworm.

Okay, forget that let’s talk the very special day. How do you plan to enjoy that special day? Are you going to take your lover to a dinner party or to a lonely park. Watching movie will be a good option.

Is your lover a childhood sweetheart, a college friend or is s/he just another ‘professional’ friend of yours?

Do you change your Valentine on a yearly basis or is s/he permanent? It’s time you ask such questions very cautiously. Making love to one is not bad. But changing lovers frequently or loosing virginity from an unknown date is not a part of wise attitude. So celebrate V’day but always thinking about the after-effects.

What makes me special?

You have perhaps watched the ad of IBM many a times where their slogan is ‘What makes you special?’ in today’s world, where competition is the last word for every growing market, everybody tries to be unique. Although every human body is distinct from one another ( not talking about clones ), people try to be modern, more fashion oriented and technology savvy. Everybody’s dress code, culture, way of expression, behaviour, sense of humour and personality characteristics tend to make them unique. But if you look at them, they are folloing the ‘same trend’. Even I follow the latest technological trends to make me updated. But I am not a very fashionable person. I am not a good follower of latest fashion hypes. Simple living and high thinking is my motto. I like to say others ‘All eyes on you’. But I dislike anybody saying me the same thing. Because, it decrease my inner efficiency level and my performance goes downward.

A champion should have a good consistency i.e. a balanced ratio between winning and loosing games of life. But I have found that I have no consistency. So I am not a champion.

When everybody take part in the fashion of looking cute and trendy, I try to look simple and ugly. When everybody tries to be ‘special’ in some ways I try to remain simple and general. So, I live in a world where everybody is ‘special’ in some way except me. In my eyes, that makes me ‘special’.

Loving Kids Without Partiality

Many teachers give preferences to some students and give less attention to others. I have seen this from my school life. Also if the first boy does any misdeed in the class, he is punished less compared to other boys of the class. Some teachers favour girl students than boys. I simply can not term them as teachers. A teacher should have impartial attitude towards all boys or girls of the class. He or she should be lovable by everybody and s/he should love everybody equally.

Some teachers give chocolates to students who have performed well in the class apart from giving them prizes in the annual school awards. That creates a mental division among the students. The whole class is virtually divided into two groups :- Strong and Weak performers. Weak performers feel inferiority complex and their performance graph goes down continuously. I think you a teacher loves his students s/he should give chocolates to everybody or nobody. S/he should hope for the average performance of the class to be good. S/he should not encourage individual performances. I, myself give my students chocolates but not for their ‘high performances’ but because I love them equally.

No, the heading was not accurate. Actually the fight is between J. K. Rowling’s Indian Agents and some people of Kolkata. Before discussing what the fight is all about, let me tell you who is Goddess Durga. Durga is one of the ancient Goddess of Hindus. She has ten hands and she successful defeated a very clever, evil and brutal Demon, named Mahishasura. She is Goddess of power, honesty and truth. Hindus organize a ceremony to worship her during the month of September or October or, November. If you are a foreigner and planning to visit Kolkata, a eastern city of India, then visit the city at this time of the year to be part of the celebration. Now, in each small locality of the city, a temporary artificial building is built inside which the total four day ceremony occurs. These artificial buildings called ‘Pandals’ are built artistically in the shape of Iadia’s and rest of the world’s greatest sculptures. You can find out Statue of Liberty, Taj Mahal, great European Castles, Eiffel Tower, Pyramid as the outer form of these ‘Pandals’. And they look almost real!

Now, this year(2007), keeping in mind about the fans of Harry Potter residing at Kolkata, some ceremony of Durga organizers of Salt Lake ( a locality in Kolkata ), tried to make their Pandal in the form of ‘Hogwarts Castle’. Somehow, J K Rowling’s Indian agents got the news and the accused the decorator of copyright violation and charged from the organizers Rs. 20,00,000 ( Indian currency). Now let me give you another data. All these pandals that are made are broken into pieces after the ceremony is over. The organizers wanted to make such pandal not to gain cheap publicity or income money from the whole project but only to please the local children who are simply Pottermaniacs, who wanted to celebrate their Puja ( meaning ceremony) holiday inside the funny Hogwarts Castle. I have heard that J. K. Rowling is not only an eminent writer but also a very good and open person by heart. She should not hire heartless people like these ‘Agent robots’ who don’t understand significance of making Pandals, ambience of cemeony of Duga and desires of children to these exclusive four days with their fatasy heroes. Argentina Should Not Get Media Support

Being a special Argentina’s Football fan, I have seen that during the last Copa America Cup, Argentina team and its key player Messi got media’s attention worldwide. But what happened to footballers in the final with Brazil? Argentina lost the match and that was demoralizing. Now, Argentina has started their World Cup campaign. I think, let the focus move from Argentina. Extra pressure affects their performance. Argentina can be champions if the players can keep a cool head and Messi gets less media attention during the whole World Cup tournament of year 2010. In such condition they will be able deliver their natural game and when Argentina plays natural creative game, they can beat any team of the world.
As far as Brazil’s case is concerned, coach Dunga’s bad comments about Ronaldo ( his number 9 jersey ) does not seem to be very good for the team spirit. Dunga should think about Ronaldo’s overall contribution for the Brazilian football and then he should treat him accordingly. England’s Rooney is getting exclusive media coverage for his play in England’s Euro 2008 qualifying matches. English football media is always over enthusiastic on a ‘new star’ born in the football universe. Wayne Rooney does not have the achievement like late footballer George Best or, Garry Lineker or, even Michael Owen. So he must be given time for further improvement and then media should pay their attention to him. All of the champion footballers of recent times like, Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi, Thiery Henry, Ronaldo, Figo have earned their respect from media. Indian Politics : Significance of Bandhs

‘Bandh’ (meaning strike) is not an English word. Indian politicians and common men use this Hindi word. Bandh is called off by general political parties and some social organizations to protest or support against something. There are reasons for why should we support the bandh and why should we not.

Why Shouldn’t we support the Bandh:-
1.First of all, our life is becoming faster. Every day is full of actions and work for us, our families and our companies. When a strike is held throughout the regions of a city, the people stay at their homes. They can not go out of their houses due to fear of political harassments. I can remember, when West Bengal’s Chief Minister’s wife’s car was stopped by bandh supporters who was going somewhere that day. Many ill people can not be taken to hospitals due to unwanted bandhs / strikes and unavailability of doctors.

2.Transportation becomes a main issue during the strikes. There are less number of buses, trains, autos , taxis and personal cars during bandhs. So, the dynamic city life becomes a standstill. Many people who do ‘field jobs’ can not travel much due to occurrence of bandhs. Examinees and examiners can not reach to the examination hall due their individual fear factor and lack of transportation.

3.There are huge loss of monetary dealings during the bandh days. Many companies works stop completely and they loose lakhs of Rupees in one days. Some major managerial meetings get postponed due to bandh.

Why Shouldn’t we support the Bandh:-
1.If bandhs are carried on a peaceful way by some honest leaders then bandhs can be successful without damaging the city life. In that case only bandhs supporters won’t go to work and rest all people will go to work. So, the ordinary lives of people won’t be affected due to bandh. If bandhs are called off with a great national or social reason, then people will automatically support it. There will be no need to force them by bandh supporters.

2.In Indian politics bandhs or strikes have a great importance. Bandh is a way to assess the presence of a political party in any country. Ask Indian political leaders like, L K Advani, Arun Jetley, Prakash Karat, Somnath Chatterjee, Sonia Gandhi, Pranab Mukherjee, Mamata Banerjee, Jyoti Basu, Biman Basu, etc. and they will all give their opinions in favour of the bandhs. Actually bandhs are nothing but a political tool to organize party members for an important issue to claim the right of something. Not affecting the public life and not increasing the miseries of people, bandhs can be effectively conducted.

Imagination

The world is not enough to describe our ideas. People imagine because they like to imagine, because imagination comes automatically to their mind. People imagine because they like to integrate past, present and future. Imagination has certain psychological effect on their mind. Or, perhaps psychology of people is the reason for imagination. More you imagine, more ideas you get. And yes, these ideas can change your life. In certain Sony company’s advertisement, the word ‘imagine’ gets focused more than the advertisement itself. Certain human emotions like fun / joy, love, lust / desire, adultery, sorrow, anxiety, pressure etc are source of imagination.

Many people believe in the philosophy : Dream Big . Become Big. Now dreaming is nothing but imagination. However their philosophy is partially correct. If you dream or Imagine big and you don’t Plan big, then you can not Become big. Planning is an important part for becoming big, but without imagination, planning can not take place. Those who believe in ‘DOING’ things, they can not ‘DO’ right things unless and until they Imagine and Plan right things. My theory is -- Imagine Big. Plan Big. Work Big. Become Big. It's as simple as this.

Imagination has great relation with Creativity. Consider the case of a computer game designer; without imagination will s/he be able to create any game with large variety and spectacular special effects for you? The graphical effects on each game is created by human logical decision making but first the programmer has to imagine how the scene in the game would look like. Then s/he will able to try his/her programme codes and logical senses. All nice websites that we see today, all successful web-portals like Yahoo, MSN and all biggest search engines like Google, Askjeeves, Altavista are result of some creative minds’ imaginative power.

In management, imagination is an important part. During several seminars the participating managers are asked to give their feedback on certain topics. Those feedbacks are nothing but guesses for imaginary situations. After taking everybody’s feedback, the coordinator sums up all the viewpoint and set future strategy(s) for the company.

In case of musicians imagination is very important. For creating nice tunes, many musicians imagine some passionate situations from which they form hit music. Heart touching poems or, lyrics for lovely music are formed by imagination also. Any music lover can better understand how music is controlled by imagination.

Sometimes we fear from the unknown and dead people, demons, vampires, ghosts and other scary things come in our dreams because of the imagination. They are not real. Sometimes we see them in our bad dreams. Now, dream is the combination of reality and our own imagination. What we see in our dreams seem to us as real although they are virtual. Although dream has a great value in human life because, great ideas come from sound sleep of people.

Imagination results in some activities or jobs in people or system. We imagine, we plan, we do work, but we never try to identify the jobs hidden under the result of each imagination. The reason for forming this site is to identify these jobs such that the logical reasoning associated with each imagination or subject or topic can be revealed to others. Imagination is the mother of all scientific and other inventions. Even some theories of astrophysics are totally based on scientific imaginations or assumptions. Story : Consultant Agency

Part 1

Sam is a modern guy who was looking for job. He had his helpful friend Harry. One day Harry brought the news. He said,”Hey, I got the address of a new consultant agency. It has already placed 100 people in top executive positions. Let’s go there.”
The very next day, they went to the address. A smart guy told them,”Yes, we provide good jobs to people and as our consultancy charges, we take the candidate’s first month salary from them. Also, if you want to make your CV a nice one we take separate charges for that. After you sign our terms and conditions bond, you may be placed in Sky Cellular, which is the biggest telecom brand of the country and they are going to hire 599 more executive in next 6 months.”
Sam was surprised hearing that. He was not in a position to spend any money. He said, “Is there any alternative way to get a job and not to pay you any money?”
The consultant thought for a moment and replied, ”Yes, in that case, you have to bring 10 jobseekers to us. In that case we won’t take any money from you.”
Sam agreed with him. Next day he met with Randy, who was a Networking-Business person and he stayed at Sam’s locality. Sam requested him to bring 10 people who would be willing to get job.
“Why should I do that for you if I don’t have any interest? You should pay me something for that, say $10,” Randy said.
Sam thought for a moment and told him to tell the candidates such a amount as total fees that would be greater than the amount charged by the consultant agency and Randy’s $10 interest will be secretly included in that amount. Randy agreed and confirmed to give him 10 jobseekers. Next day, Randy want to his brother John’s house who was also his close business partner. He described to his brother about Sam’s plan. His brother agreed and told that he will bring 10 candidates who wanted job and also informed that they would be able to pay the money. But like a professional he insisted that he wanted to have $10 commission per candidate. Randy advised him that he should mention to his candidates a higher consultancy charge in which his and Randy’s commission of $10 each would be added.
Part 2
Sam was walking down the road two days after he met Randy. Suddenly it seemed to him a familiar face passed by him. He recognized the person. It was Billy, his old college friend. He shouted, “Billy!”
The person looked back and for a moment he became surprised and hesitated to say something. Then say uttered, “Sam….”
Two old friends hugged each other. Then Sam asked what Billy was doing. Billy said that he had become a senior manager of Sky Cellular and at that time he was hiring some young executives under him.
Sam asked with a bright hope, “Will you take me as a junior executive?”.
Billy was surprised. He said, “Well you really want the job? I shall be happy to take you in my team since I know from college life that you are quite a diligent guy. This is my card. Come tomorrow at 11 a.m. and meet me.”
Next day Sam went to the city’s Sky Cellular office, he gave fantastic interview and was selected for the job. An offer letter was issued in his name and he was instructed to join from the very next day.

Part 3
Sam was ready to leave home for office. At that time someone pressed his calling bail. Sam felt irritated. He opened door quickly. There were Randy, his brother John and 10 job seeking persons. Sam said, “Okay, Randy thanks for your effort but I have got the job finally. So , I am not at all interested about the business plan I told you earlier.”
Randy told him that the clients (the 10 job seekers) had come for the job and he have taken the money with them. Now they can not go back. Then they would have bad impression on Randy and his brother. Sam thought for a moment and suddenly an idea came to his mind. He talked to Billy over mobile phone and asked Billy whether he was in the position to recruit 10 more people for the job of Sales People whose selection process was relatively easier. Billy replied yes. After full conversation with Billy, Sam immediately sent the 10 candidates for the interview and thankfully all of them were selected for the interview. The ‘consultancy charges’ paid by the 10 candidates were divided onto 3 parts. Randy and John took $1000 each as their total commissions. Rest of the money Sam took and deposited into his bank account without paying to nay consultant agency.
The story could have ended here but it didn’t. A couple of months later he invited Billy and Harry to dinner as a part of his personal thanksgiving process. And after 25 years of working, he formed his own consultant agency which was also a huge success with the help of Billy, Harry and his other job associates randy and his brother.

My Dream Wrestling Matches

Wrestling has been my passion for long years. I am a die hard wrestling fan and like to watch ,my favourite wrestling superstars every week on Ten Sports and on Star Sports. Sometimes I feel very angry because for the transmission of other sports like Wimbledon (tennis), Sunfeast Open (tennis), UEFA Cup (football), I can not see my favourite wrestling matches. Ten Sports management can not understand that wrestling is more exciting game than other games.
I always like to see wrestling matches between great wrestlers. Some hot matches that can be in wrestling are :-

1.Rock vs. John Cena:- We know Rock is the hottest ‘People’s Champ’. And John Cena’s slogan is ‘The Champ is Here’. Both have their huge fan clubs. I like Rock more than I like Cena. But if a fight happens, then advantage will be for Cena. Because, Rock is out of the ring for a ling time. I also think that John Cena is physically powerful than Rock. If the fight ever takes place my mind will support John Cena but my heart will support People’s Champ, The Rock.

2.Randy Orton vs. CM Punk:- Punk is the sensational superstar of ECW. Randy is the ‘Legend Killer’. If the fight happens, then advantage : Randy Orton. Because Randy is much experienced and Punk has many things to learn.

3.Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin:- The ‘Rattle Snake’ will try his level best to defeat the legendary Hulk Hogan. Both have huge number of fans worldwide. If the fight happens, anybody can win. And just imagine what a tensed fight it will be.

4.Umaga vs. The Great Khali:- This is not the case of King Kong vs. Godzilla where King Kong will win always. They are two very destructive ‘human’ monsters and it’s quite difficult to predict who will win.

5.Umaga vs. Mark Henry:- This will the fight between the brutal ‘Bulldozer’ versus World’s Strongest Man. Who will win can not be predicted early. Similar match can take place between the Great Khali and Mark Henry.

6.Rey Mysterio vs. Paul London:- It’s time for Paul London to play big matches in his career. And his big match debut can be started with the fight of Rey Mysterio, our very own ‘619’ action superstar. Advantage : Rey Mysterio, for his long experiences.

7.Batista vs. John Cena:- There are only few people left within wrestling industry who can defeat John Cena. Batista is one among them. John Cena can be in trouble due to Batista’s pure aggression. He has the power to defeat John. Although when fighting with John, Batista should be quicker in his moves. He must innovate new wrestling techniques to fight with John Cena. It seems to me that John cena’s flexibility is better than Batista. If the fight ever happens my mind will support John Cena but my heart will support Batista.

8.Shawn Michaels vs. Rock:- They are both legends. Both will be included in WWE ‘Hall of Fame’ someday. It will be interesting to watch how Rock encounters The Showstopper’s Sweet Tune Music.

9.Undertaker vs. Umaga:- It will be the match of The Big Evil trying to conquer deadly Bulldozer. Undertaker has been an amazing wrestler throughout his career. He has defeated many legends and many demon-like wrestlers and I am sure, he will defeat many more. He has fought Kane, Big Show, Batista, Hulk Hogan and has won against them. I am sure he will be able to defeat Umaga although winning against such a monster won’t come easily.

10. Big Show vs. The Great Khali:- They are both tall and have giant like structures. Both use their hands as sledge hammers. So when Big Show meets with The Great Khali, anybody can win.

11.The Great Khali vs. John Cena:- These two wrestlers have fought before and John has defeated The Great Khali many times. Recently The Great Khali has invented a new wrestling move. That is his skull crushing action. He has done that to Batista, Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy but never applied it on John Cena. It will be interesting to watch what will be the effect on Cena’s skull if The Great Khali try to crush it.

12.Kurt Angle and King Booker vs. Triple H and Kane :- This would be one of the hottest wrestling tag-team match. I know wrestling fans don’t like him or his music and shout ‘You suck’ but I like Kurt Angle and respect his wrestling skills. He has defeated big giants like Big Show. He can defeat Kane. King Booker or Booker T has been an amazing wrestler throughout his career. He has defeated many legends. Kane, the Big Red monster fights with power. Triple H is really the Game. It will be interesting to watch how two teams fight against each other. And guess who will be the guest referee for this match? Rick Flair, the ‘Nature Boy’, the ‘Dirtiest Player of the Game’.

These were my dream wrestling matches. Do you think that I missed anybody? Yes, wrestlers like Hardy Boys, RVD, Bobby Lashley, Goldberg etc. remained out of this this. Please let me know about any dream fight you can imagine.

MY IMAGINATION OF FREEDOM

FREEDOM THAT I WANT

Everybody is happy now a days. Happy, because we are celebrating our independence of 60 years. Happy, because our life is full of modern gadgets, recreation and leisure. Every commodity we purchase is consumer friendly. Every service we take is more customer oriented. Country’s economic growth is nearly 9%. So apparently, there is a feel good weather in our country as well as all over the world.
But, I personally feel, I’m not ‘Free’. I am giving Ten ( 10 ) reasons / 10 issues / 10 points to prove that.

1. Freedom from Corruption: India is a country where all work (specially several government services ) is full of corruption. Delaying any work is a normal thing here. Simple work is made more complicated such that it takes more time and the service taking people become harassed. You go to do any good work or plan any big project for our society and some top officials will show 10 reasons to you about why your job can not be done.
Power – cut: - It is one of the massive problem that India is facing right now. Power cuts may happen at any moment and anywhere. Xerox machines are stopped, all factories’ productions stop, government / public services remain closed due to huge loadsheddings at irregular timings. Even I have save my writings at frequent intervals for the fear of power-cuts. Important emails can not be sent / received due to sudden power cuts. Cyber Cafes remain virtually closed all day due to massive power cuts. During summer seasons, when average temperature maximum temperature around several metro cities of India becomes around 35 degree Celcius, many people can not sleep well due to long power cuts through the whole night. This is one of the great corruptions I have personally faced.

Transportation :- One can feel it by going from one corner of a city to another corner at office hours. Hours of delay cause to miss important business. Sometimes bus drivers and conductors drive their bus slowly to pick up more passengers which also causes corruption through transport.

2. Freedom from pollution: We are certainly not enemy of environment and we are also aware of global warming, green house gases, non-biodegradable plastics etc. But still our pollution control measures are not up to the mark. We don’t have advanced waste controls measures. We are reluctant about how much poisonous gases emitted from local cars daily and we cut big trees to flourish our wood business. We feel easy to drop plastic bags in narrow canals. We can not put our garbage in the proper garbage spots and we like to throw them on the roads. Can’t we be free from all these menaces?

3. Freedom from sex-starvation: Now is an adult topic. India and many Asiatic countries’ people are not allowed to view adult contents on their TV channels. The channels which are banned for the last 3 years are REN TV, TB6 etc. I have personally surveyed on my male friends and all of them are strictly against this policy of our I & B Ministry. Who cares if some freedom is given to TV channels to show adult scenes after midnight? Many wonderful foreign TV channels are not shown on India with the excuse that they show semi – nude ads once / twice a day! It’s time to think modern and think positive.
4. Freedom from illiteracy:- Lead India Movement can not be successful if the countrymen can not understand it. Go to rural places and you will find out yourself that people are so illiterate to understand what the freedom actually means. For them getting a plate of rice or one piece of bread after whole day’s hard work is freedom. Generally these people are misguided by some crooked leaders for their own betterment. This miserable condition can only be changed by educating these poor people enough such that they can understand who they are, what they want and how to get that.
5. Freedom from reservation:- A man should be known by his deed not by his caste. But in India, a man is known by his caste, not by his efficiency, honesty. Reservation policy is found everywhere – in schools, colleges, universities, in government policies and even in political parties. Political parties campaign according to religions. What a shame it is that now some political parties want that there should be reservations in jobs also.

6. Freedom of internet / information :- I watch TV and I see all the Indian local and national channels. And I see BBC World which I don’t consider as a complete global channel. But I can’t see Fox News, CNN, ABC News even if I wish. My cable operator closes the transmission of any channel whenever he wish without consulting to his subscribers. Fashion loving people can not see the original F TV. Rather they have to watch F TV India. I strongly dislike every TV channel being Indianised which diminishes the channel’s scope and information. I must thank I&B ministry’s corruptive strategy for that! At radio (local FM channels) I have to hear more talks than songs. Local newspapers are worthless and full of partiality and hardly care about their true readers’ sentiments. The only thing that is the global gateway for me is internet. I can get global information through global portals and news agencies. I can view good international TV shows online and play online / download my favourite music. But, unfortunately there is corruption too. Every Indian student like me doesn’t possess a computer with internet connection and so has to go to cyber café where there is no privacy of what I am doing. I can not take a backup because every computer doesn’t contain floppy drive, CD writer and pen drive. Internet is the only medium for getting all types of complete information but still India possess very poor infrastructure. I want to see ‘one internet connection for one personal computer’ movement. Then only we can have the freedom of internet. Moreover, internet connection must be cost effective.
7. Freedom of money:- You may not like it but even creativity requires money. Unless and until you are not financially stable, you can not spend free, think free and problems related to finance will haunt you along with your dependents in the family and creditors.
Many people don’t have Personal computer since they lack money. Even I don’t have internet facility since it costs too much to afford it. Only those people can live in luxurious flats and shop fashionable clothing and new gadgets who have no money problem. I want some quick money, I desperately want it but who is going to give it to me?
8. Freedom of privacy:- There are some people who do their own job less and feel curious what the other people are doing. In my locality there are many people who are always curious what my family members are doing? At night they will sit together and discuss what’s the latest buzz on us or any other family of our locality. As a result there is almost no private life of me. Whatever, I am talking to my mother right now and what appointments I have with people today will be out within next few days. These people do that because they are jobless and showing curiosity about others is a great time pass for them. I desperately want the freedom of privacy. If somebody has the Right to Information then I should have the Right to Privacy also.
9. Freedom of true love and care for family:- If you think that everybody is lovable then you are certainly right and wrong. Right, because every new born human baby is lovable. Wrong, because when this baby becomes a full grown man or man or woman, he or she may become bad due to his / her surroundings. Our objective should be to seach for the good men of our country and create the good environment near the bad people such that they also become good.
People are turning into human robots due to heavy work pressure. We can not meet with our relatives because we are always busy and they are busy too. We don’t have time to share time with our lovable near and dear ones. We are becoming selfish giants, families are breaking, divorce cases are increasing and there is a real necessity of true love. Our should be so designed that we shall be allotted some time to spend life with our family and friends. Our employers have give us such freedom.
10. Freedom of expression of thought:- Political partiality and hooliganism exists in every class of our society. Today you express your thoughts against any political party, tomorrow some activists from that party will murder you or give to vocal threats of warning. These things are very common. In many political surveys, educated people fear to give their opinions because of fearing insecurity from local political party goons. I simply want freedom these miscreants.
The day I can get these freedoms, I shall celebrate my freedom of Independence.

Cricket : Twenty-Twenty World Cup

While we type SMSes we don’t write full word and don’t care for grammar. We just enjoy writing our expression. Now everything comes with a shorter version. But what method can be done in case of an SMS, can not be applied in case of the game cricket.
At first the cricket was in Test format. Then it was changed to One Day cricket. Till that time it was okay. Now the game is changing towards Tewnty-20 cricket. Is that very good for the game?

Kevin Petersen has commented that Twenty20 cricket is a ‘lottery’ and any team can win on any day. So, winner of Twenty20 can not be termed as world champions. The exit of teams like Australia, New Zealand, England, West Indies and South Africa before final only proves how dull the tournament was.
In Twenty20 where each team gets twenty overs to score, batsmen feel less pressure to loose their wickets. As a result, they play with their free mind. The large number of sixes hit throughout the tournament, was the result of such free-minded, fearless play. When England’s Stuart Broad gave 36 runs in an over, I felt totally sympathetic to him. No, he was not a very poor bowler. It was the game’s poor format for which he had to surrender to such fearless batting attack. I can predict in next Twenty20 world cup at least one among the teams like Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka may reach in the final and can win the cup as well. Will that mean that they will be future world champions? Definitely not. Performance of teams can be put under test only if they win in Test cricket, One Day cricket but not Twenty20.
With the introduction of Twenty20, cricket is slowly dying down. In future Twenty20 cricket tournaments, batsmen will be termed as Quick Run Machines and bowlers will be called Bowling machines. Gradually this type of cricket will be also vanished. New tournaments will be like Ten10 cricket, then Five5 cricket and then No Cricket. In No Cricket, each cricketer will sit on computer and play a computer game ‘live’ with a ‘electronic batting tool’ to win matches of international importance. Is that future ICC and cricket lovers want? From such tournaments what outcome can you expect? You can not find greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly, Adam Gilchrist, Steve Waugh from such tournaments. You will find your great bowlers struggling to get wickets and one idiotic bowler of your team having no talent at all suddenly will get 4 wickets for 20 runs. You call this cricket? Can the result of first match between India and Pakistan in Twenty20 be supported from cricketing point of view?
ICC should think seriously about it and it is time for the global cricket lovers to decide what they want to see, an exciting cricket match or ultimate destruction of talent?

When India Won Twenty20 World Cup:- When the match was over and India won the first Twenty20 world cup, in my locality people burned crackers which sounded above 65 decibel and no police came to catch the offenders red handed. Some people shouted in high scale on the read in front of my apartment. They were using slang words against not only Pakistan but also against India’s former captain Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar who were unable to win any world cup for their country. They shouted even after the midnight and the next day from the seven o’ clock their ‘celebration’ started and that continued for the next 2-3 days. Some of them drank heavily and started behaving abnormally. Some Days After:- The Big 3 batsmen of Indian cricket ( Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid) are going through a tough condition. Everybody is interested about M H Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. I don't think they have any resrect for these 3 seniors. True these 3 batsmen have never given any world cup to India. But think about their overall achievement. BCCI's rotation policy should not be applied on them. And Dhoni and Yuvraj should respect their seniors. Otherwise, cricket will simply DY (die) which as a cricket lover, I can not support.
The urgent need for Indian cricket is to build a team with both seniors and juniors. Seniors like Rahul Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar must be treated with equal importance. Under senior's supervision Dhoni would get more time for preparation and get matured. India's cricket control authority should take care to ease the tension among seniors and juniors. That will be helpful for Indian Cricket.

When Kumble became Indian Captain: Kumble has been always a team player and keeps a low profile unlike his other team mates. The speciality in Kumble is he generally does not come into the focus of media, has consistency and secretly do his cricket attack during vital time. Now, BCCI's move to make Anil Kumble captain is a welcome move. Seniors like Saurav, Sachin and Dravid have his support. Juniors also respect him. Kumble's continuation as India's captain will be good for Indian Cricket.

I Love SPAMS !

Each time you open your email id , you will find that your mailbox / inbox is flooded with some junk mails, called SPAMS . they are quite problematic to erase because they come in large numbers in your inbox. They come monthly, weekly and daily also. So, every person ( except online marketers) becomes pretty annoyed with SPAMS. But I am an exception. By writing blogs, I have rediscovered SPAMS.
First of all my blog topics are ‘Selective’. I always do some selection from the current available topics. Secondly, I write in such a manner that my topic becomes a good / moderate presentation. So, the blog should be ‘Presentable’. The language chosen should be simple, witty and the design of blog should be ‘Attractive’ to get your readers hooked to your blog. Then, if you have a good blog traffic, you should try to ‘Monetize’or Make Money from your blog. Finally the blog should contain the ‘Summary’ of all the information in the ‘About’ section, such that the visitor will get a fair idea about the blog subject (s).

What is Freedom?

Independence. More you think about it, more the meaning of the word gets bigger. Talk without fear, live without fear, walk without fear, live happily in a society / state/ country is what we mean by independence. Racism is not officially allowed in an independent country.

Now, India is celebrating 60 years of its independence. Everybody seems to be happy. But how much happy we should be? Do we really feel happiness? What is our achievement in sports? What is our ranking in football? How many times we obtained gold in Olympics? Indians are cricket crazy. When last we won worldcup cricket contest? After so many years of independence we got one Vishwanathan Anand (chess), one Sania Mirza ( tennis ) and some national heroes who shine in international games of less importance.

In IT ( information technology ) we have good manpower. How many global software Indians have patent? How many Indian IT companies have same standard like their international counterparts? Indian corporate world still lacks good number of CEOs. Still our best talents prefer to study abroad and they try to live in foreign countries. Our great researchers in the field of science and technology don’t get enough monetary aid for their research work. Our major exams’ question papers get out in the market before the exam.

Movies like Rang De Basanti and Chak De India inspire us. Gandhigiri from Munnabhai MBBS stimulates us. But where is the ultimate reflection in our activities? Sixty years after, our major cities like Kolkata and most part of the rural India doesn’t have enough infrastructure to reflect the picture of a truly developing country.

We boost off of our freedom. But do we have freedom of safety? Today anybody can be killed anywhere. Where is our financial freedom? How many people are jobless? Those who get their jobs, among them, how many of them get their salaries as per their level of efficiency and skill? Don’t you think that with poverty, ignorance, illiteracy and individual financial crisis, the meaning of the word Freedom remains incomplete? Think about it and then celebrate sixty ‘golden’ years of independence.

On last Friday, I went to a stationary shop to purchase some of my necessary goods. A woman came to purchase some consumer durable items. When she asked for a popular branded item, the young salesman said there were three categories of product lines of the same brand present in that store. The lady asked to view all the three items. The three items had three different price setting. The salesman showed her only two items but did not show her the third one. When lady asked where was the third category of that brand, the salesman simply replied that it is not shown to the general consumers. Because, they can’t afford to buy that item which is priced at a high value. So, it would be better for the lady if she could choose any one of the two items priced lower than the third one. Hearing that suggestion, the lady thought that the salesman was mocking at her economic condition and she insisted on viewing the third one. The salesman smiled, showed her the item of highest value and what happened was the lady ended up purchasing two quantities of that item just to show how rich she was.
Actually, the sales person had excellent marketing aptitude. Somehow he knew that the lady came from an aristocratic family and he willingly mocked at her financial condition which resulted in an excellent marketing.
Later that evening, when I went to my uncle’s house, I saw a magazine named 4Ps on his table. What’s the problem of the marketers is that they always like to think from marketers / company’s point of view. They should understand that marketing is evolved by the marketers but it is actually for the consumers. Unless the salespeople can’t read the consumers thought processes, they can’t market the product.
We know, the four Ps of marketing are Product, Price, Place and Promotion. But unless consumer’s thought processes are mapped with the marketer’s guesses the marketing / sales cycle remains incomplete. So, a fifth P must be added with the basic four Ps. That fifth P may be termed as ‘ Psychology ‘ (of consumers) / ‘ Perception ’ (of marketer about consumers).
When marketers would include this P into the goup of other four Ps, effective marketing will take place and both marketers and consumers will get satisfaction or, may I say ‘Pleasure’?

Where Lies Argentina’s Attractiveness?

Previously, I have written many posts in ‘ imaginealljobs ’ regarding various subjects. Win and Defeat are part of human life. In plays / games is true also. You can win a game or loose it but after a long phase, your winning and loosing proportions should come to a standard ratio. This is specially true in case of Football / Cricket teams. They loose trophies in one season and in next season they win it. The season may be on monthly / yearly / longer than one one year basis.
What I am see today that world football is monopolized by Brazil which I clearly dislike. There are other teams like Argentina, Germany, England, Netherland, Portugal, France etc. to claim the world title or Copa America title but it is the Brazilian players who get the hype before the match and then they play getting support from the people. I clearly like Ronaldinho among the all the R ‘s of Brazil. But still I think, that there should be at least one team which will be able to defeat Brazil. In the past three World Cups, France has done that by beating Brazil twice. England also has the potential to prevent Brazilian strikers’ attacks. But they are all European teams. Where are the Asian, African and North and South American teams to play tough with Brazil? There lies the significance of Argentina. It is also a Latin American football giant like Brazil. Last time Brazil won Copa America final against Argentina. This time surprisingly, the stage of football was like earlier -- Copa America Final --- Brazil vs. Argentina.

And, unfortunately, the earth of football again became monopolar instead of becoming bi-polar . This time Argentina got all the publicity due the New Maradona, ‘ Messidona ‘ ( Lionel Messi ) factor. Tevez, Riquelme etc. were there to support Messi and to structure Argentinian attack. But Argentinians were totally ruined by the Brazil’s attack and Ayala’s miserable own goal. Also, Messi factor did not click on time. And Brazil, without their full strength, with Ronaldinho and Kaka missing, won the match 3 – 0 with a comfortable margin. Actually, Argentina didn’t loose to Brazil, it was the game, football, that lost to Brazil. The art of football lost to power football -- that is bad for the game. As a football lover may I request the Football God (if there is anybody! ) , to make Argentina win the Copa America next time against a particular team, named Brazil? And, may I request all the players in the Argentina’s team and the supporters of any teams other global team to play and defeat Brazil to keep the international football a Neutral, Balanced game ?

FUN : - THE NEW EDITION OF ‘BABU’

Those who don’t understand the meaning of Babu, let me explain the meaning of this specific term. Babus were a specific social category of people under British India, who pretended to be intellectual people but had no quality and inner knowledge to excel in their life. Although their economic conditions were poor, they lead life styles just like kings. Their funny way of living were ridiculed in a humourous manner by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay ( known as ‘Sahityasamrat’ or the Caesar of Bengali Literature ). With passing of decades, Babus’ characters have also changed. Babu community now exists not within the state of Bengal but also in other states of India and around the world. Below I’m giving some examples to make you better understand the definition of modern Babus : -

1 ) Those who work in big offices, earn big bucks, spend bigger bucks and pretend that they are a big saver of money, are called Babus.

2) Those who are great cricket fans, have taken autographs of at least fifty renowned cricketers till now but never touched a bat or ball in their lives, are called Babus.

3) Those who are health conscious, conducts blood donation camps and free health check-up camps in their localities, view yoga classes on television and finally eat lots junk foods and spicy foods with their friends, families on streets, are called Babus.

4) Those who are strict protestors of global warming , read journals and newspaper articles on Global Warming, oppose emission of greenhouse gases in the environment and finally cut off green ‘bushes’ around their houses or localities, are called Babus.

5) Those ban showing adult scenes on TV, slap newspapers and magazines for publishing half – naked pictures and obscene contents, but have no objection for young adults going to central parks ( or lovers’ parks ) or kissing in public, are Babus.

6) Those who speak fluently in English, bag top call centre jobs easily, earn huge money per month and have no written or grammatical knowledge in English, are called Babus.

7 ) Those people of democracy who are believer of individual freedom, who boost off themselves as world’s most civilized, noble and humanist people and finally snatch the freedom Iraq and its countrymen, are called Babus. ( International Babus )

8 ) Those who are part of media, advertise publicly that they are the messenger of truth, courage and impartial attitude and publish only those ‘impartial’ letters of readers such that they get publicity and their sales get higher, are called Babus.

9 ) Those who attend classical songs’ concerts monthly, write at least one poem bi – monthly, try to show intellectualism in their talks daily but never miss going to night clubs on weekends, are called Babus.

10 ) Those supervise work of others, suggest in ‘innovative scientific ways’ how to easily do several works in minimum time, have not followed those ‘innovative scientific ways’ in their own life and their suggestions finally slow down or stop other people’s works, are called Babus.

11 ) Those who don’t have their degree in political science, always criticize government by telling them what to do and what not to do, better understand policies than any other minister and waste their time and political knowledge debating inside tea or coffee shops, are called Babus.

12 ) Those who believe in ‘natural beauty’, claim that they don’t use any cream, body lotion, hair colour, scent, sun glasses etc. and finally cover their bald heads in wearing wigs like cinema superstars’ styles are called Babus.

13) Those who are multiplex movie goers, watch superhit movies on first day first show basis, always go in big groups and after watching movies like Spiderman 3 conclude that Peter Parker’s aunts’ name in the movie was Kirsten Dunst ---- they are called Babus.

14) Those who act bad in movies, act worse in TV serials, act worst in local plays but superb in Page 3 parties in front of photographers are called Babus.

15) Those businessmen whose employees use wireless laptops, have iPods at home but do not know how to check and send email themselves are called Babus.

16) Those who drink mineral water at home, drink alcohol at parties, drink milk in front of children and finally drink special soft drinks to meet with their favourite celebrities on road, are called Babus.

17) Those who are political leaders, have lost control or power in their own states, have no ethics / principle at all and support the same person for country’s highest post for the second time just to stay in the limelight of media, are called Babus.

18) Those who are jobless, eat and live from their father’s money, daily borrow money from their mother and finally spend all the money on their lovers, are called Babus.

19) Those local people who have 8 mobile post – paid connections / landline connections, 10 credit cards, have taken 12 personal loans for various purposes but never pay back bills / interests / amounts of any of these are called Babus.

20 ) Those who in their childhood think text books as bogus substances, call professors' notes as garbage in their youths, has no reading habit and comprehension power and never hesitate to call others' writings or blogs as 'GARBAGE' container are called Babus. ( Actually, they have 'GARBAGE IN'-side their brains, that's why they see 'GARBAGE OUT'-side everywhere. )

21) Last but not the least, those who are lazy persons and like to sleep all the time, think like life is all play and no work, have no positive attitude for hard work and excelling in life and only know how to chat, net – surfing and write web – articles on internet ( i.e. persons like Bishnu Kumar Ganguram ), are called Babus.

Apart from these types, there are plenty of Babus found in our society. You have to ‘imagine all’ other types of Babus. I think, that’s your ‘job’ not mine.

Wrestling - As I’ve Seen It

Wrestling is one of the violent games I have ever known ( other such games being Karate, Judo, Boxing , Kick Boxing etc. ) where sportsmen get physically and brutally hurt by other sportsmen. Unless and until a wrestler becomes semi – conscious or unconscious and his and her shoulders are not down, the fight continues. One may think it is a boyish game but the number of women wrestlers and women audience for it in developed countries are no less than the other gender. However in India, I see very few wrestling audience from women or girls.

My favourite wrestler is Rock. You know, in WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment ), everything happens in a dramatic way, like a thriller movie. Wrestlers have their own public images, own style and action and costume and dialogues of each wrestler are almost different from other. Rock’s favourite dialogue is, “If you smell…, what the Rock is cooking!”. His body physique, way of wearing stylish sunglasses, his finishing moves ( like, Rock Bottom ), dancing eyebrows --- everything is superb. His costume has a sign of Bull. Apart from Rock I like Batista, HBK, Triple H, Undertaker, Chris Benoit, Kane, Great Khali, John Cena, the Hardy Boys, Bobby Lashley, C M Punk etc. Wrestlers have their different finishing moves, like, batista has Batista has Batista Bomb, Kurt angle has Angle Slam, Rey Mysterio has 619 move, Shawn Michael has Sweet Tune Music etc.

Wrestling corporation organizes world tours. Frequent tours are organized in UK and Canada. In India, I can remember, they once came and the show was shown in Bangalore. That was the promotion part of the game. You can call it worldwide publicity.

There are some wrestlers whom I don’t like much or I dislike. Umaga is one among them. I think few have the ability to stop this bulldozer. Two wrestlers who can stop Umaga with dominance are Great Khali and Undertaker. What Randy Orton did to Shawn Michael and RVD, made him a super – villain.

Currently, according to my choice Batista is the most champion wrestler. Though he fights with great zeal and emotion, his moves are just not enough to defeat top class wrestlers like Undertaker. One negative point of Batista is he never uses his feet. I have not seen a kick of his on his competing wrestlers face. If Batista wants to fight and win against his competitors who has large varieties of actions ( like, Rey Mysterio, RVD, Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michael, John Cena etc.), then he must invent or adopt new action styles in his fighting. Another good wrestler is Bobby Lashley. Currently, he is the right person to become ECW champion. Then comes John Cena. I don’t like his high scale voice and dialogues but I like music and sometimes action. Although, I think, the Great Khali is abler than him to become WWE RAW champion. Problem in Great Khali is, he is not as quick as John Cena and between his two successive powerful actions, he slows down too much that the opponent gets time to recover from temporary fatigueness. C M Punk doesn’t have big muscles. But his way of actions are pretty attractive. He is one of the young superstars of ECW. But, among all this superstars, Batista is still the boss and the best, I suppose.

In wrestling arena, no two wrestlers are permanent friends. Friendship and trust is built and broken frequently here. We know, Triple H and Shawn Michael were primarily friend, then became enemies and again became friends and formed DX ( a tag team these two wrestlers). Other such examples are relation of Shawn Michael and John Cena; Carlito and Rick Flair etc. Every wrestler has his or her own egoism and when his or her egoism clashes with that of another wrestler, they start fighting and tag team partners break up etc.

In wrestling, every wrestler fights to win a single title. Cricket or Football id not a deadly game as wrestling is. Wrestlers sacrifice their bodies and souls to win a single match. And look at the varieties of wrestling skills and wrestling techniques these wrestlers have. New wrestling moves and techniques are coming day by day. Don’t you get a sense of creativity in these moves? Wrestling is shown on TV like any other popular TV serials where there are heroes, heroines, villains, comedians, cameramen, technicians, creative persons and engineers, managers, excited audiences. But one thing that you will never find in any other popular TV shows, you will find it here. That is the game itself, the Wrestling.

When Government Controls Media

I request the readers who are of less than 18 years of age or are women, to skip ( not to read ) this article. He or she can read any other article but not this one. This article is meant for mentally and physically grown up people only.

We know that some months before BBC channel showed Chinese officials were unofficially banning Google on Chinese computers’ browsers. If government tries to control the media matters then the freedom of media is lost, be it Internet media, Print media, Television or Radio media.

We have seen or heard that during many political campaign, political parties show they achievements by using media vehicles such as local / state wise / national / international newspapers, radio channels, TV channels, magazines etc. Sometimes, news suppliers deform news due to vested interest of political parties.

In every country, it is thoroughly watched by the country’s administration if somebody is giving opinion in any website about the fault of county’s administration system. Immediately that site is blocked.

Some developing and underdeveloped countries’ Information and Broadcasting ministry ban international fashion and art TV channels, accusing them of showing nudity and vulgar scenes. Movie channels are also blocked due to same logic. The cultured administrative persons of many countries’ I&B department think that if they ban vulgar TV channels, then number of rape and women abuse cases will not happen or it will happen less in those countries because youths will not be misdirected any more. And, that’s why they banned all ‘adult’ TV channels. Have rape case and physical harassment of women in the countries stopped or became less after that? No. but the market for blue film business has increased a lot. Is that all the governments want? Also I&B ministry shows a second logic. If adult scenes and atrocities are shown on TV channels, then those will have worst kind of effect on kids’ minds. I completely agree with this statement. But kids have their schools (generally). They do not stay awake late at night. So, if adult programmes, violent scenes are shown after 12 midnight, then kids’ parents will not have any problem I think.

Problem in those I&B ministers is they are of our parents’ age or older than that. They are not bad people and I also don’t have any personal grudge against them. The only problem in them is they are not modern.

Like eating, walking , running, sleeping, laughing , crying and other human processes, violence and sex are also quite natural in human life. You have to accept that. And, if somebody is saying that viewing ‘objectionable’ adult scenes are ‘crime’ then s/he must keep in mind that almost every human being is born due to sexual intercourse which is also a ‘crime’. Then stop giving birth to children.

Stop protesting against any inequality or social justice because this can lead to ‘violence’ and that will not covered and printed / aired / shown by media due to several countries’ I&B ministries’ orders.

So, being the responsible citizens of our individual countries, we are going to support governments’ autocratic leadership style and their take over of ‘free’ media.

TRADITION IS ALSO NECESSARY

CHANGE IS EVERYWHERE

What we have read in our text books or in our GK books, that can not be changed much. But the change in new inventions, change in people’s perceptions and change in science in science or technology are breaking old conventions or perceptions and are bringing new concepts.

Pluto, we knew, as the ninth planet of our solar system. But recently, the concept has changed in the recent scientific convention. Now, it is not called a planet but a Dwarf planet. After the discovery of Eris, scientists are saying Pluto is not the biggest dwarf planet. It is the second largest Dwarf planet after Eris. What about the old definition of planet? Will it be changed? I don’t know. But, remember, if scientists again change the definition of dwarf planet, and include dwarf planets in planets group then again we have to change our astronomical definitions. This type of sudden changes in scientific conventions is not acceptable to many.

Another problem comes in choosing the ‘new’ seven wonders of world. I don’t know what was the problem with old Seven Wonders of the World. But, somehow this new concept has arrived. Thanks to the website http://www.new7wonders.com/ due to which such a abusive concept against world’s greatest sculptures have come and our Taj Mahal’s existence as one of the seven wonders of the world are suddenly at stake! However, whatever trend comes with time, we have to accept it. I have already casted my vote for Taj Mahal. And we have no option left except voting for Taj Mahal because the site has got what it wanted – publicity. What if, Taj does not get a place in the new seven wonders? Tomorrow a new website may be formed on the web, which may be named as http://www.everybodyismad.com/ or http://www.everybodycanbeamericanprez.com/ but that won’t mean everybody is mad or any person of any country having any qualification and age can be American president whatever the poll results in those sites may be.

These websites or concepts must be controlled by a worldwide body which must do analysis and research on newly launched concepts. If the social, technological, political, legal impact of new theories are not good then they should be banned or corresponding website should be blocked such that any convention doesn’t get worse than its earlier stage.

HOLLYWOOD TALKS : UMA THURMAN

If you ask me about my favourite Hollywood actresses, then I can mention many names :- Anjelina Jolie ( or, should I call her as Branjelina now? ) , Catherine Zeta – Jones, Sharon Stone, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman. But in this article I would like to talk about Uma Thurman only. Uma Thurman’s talent got visualized when she played the character ‘Mia’ in 1994 film Pulp Fiction. But I became a fan of her when I saw the movie Kill Bill on television. What attracted me was her simple facial expression matched with the story of the film where a simple woman became an action packed heroine with a sharp sword as her weapon to teach a lesson to her former lover. Uma acted in action scenes so brilliantly and in a natural manner that it seemed to me that there was no difference between the actor Uma Thurman and characters of those films. After Kill Bill, its sequel came – Kill Bill 2. Both the stories were woman centric and Uma stole the show in both the films due to her powerful act and central character. She overcame her womanliness and showed boldness like a man while playing her role.

If somebody wants to find the feminine side of Uma Thurman, then s/he can get it from the character of Poison Ivy played by Uma in the film Batman and Robin. The hot bodily appeal of Uma not only attracted Batmen and Robin in the film but also caught outside audiences’ minds.

Now a days, there is a trend of making films for super - heroines. Like, Anjelina Jolie played the role of Lara Croft in Tomb Rider, Halle Berry acted in Cat Woman’s role. Like these heroines, Uma Thurman was also casted in a super – heroines film, ‘My Super Ex – Girlfriend’ which was not so serious but a comedy film. Uma played the super – heroine character G – Girl in that film. This movie again threw a new light on Uma’s multiple role playing talent. Also, I like to watch Uma’s different looks in different films. The simplicity of her face makes her romantic and of lovable nature and at the same time her eyes points out her determination and challenging role playing capability. The last movie I saw about Uma Thurman was Prime. There Uma Thurman’s character was that she was a divorced woman who fell in love with a younger guy than her. He was also in love with her but their mother did not like their relationship. Since, the young man cared for his mother’s feelings and the divorced woman respected their relationship and did not want the boy to be separated from his mother and his family, she and the boy finally kept themselves away from each other’s life although they were still mentally attracted towards each other. In this era, when love teach us to be blind and selfish, this story tells us about the sacrifice made by two people which is the USP of that film. Although, I generally don’t watch this type of no-so-funny comedies, I still watched it for seeing Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep in a single movie. I would like to watch her in more different but entertaining roles in her upcoming movies.

In this regard, let me tell you, I like ghost movies, very funny movies ( like movies of actor Jim Carrey, Rowan Atkinson and movies like ‘Scary Movie’ series), Thrillers (like Scream and Scream 2), adventure and science - fiction movies ( Jurrasic Park, The Matrix, Star Wars, Harry Patter etc.)

There is a new trend in beauty therapy in our city in recent days. Biyanka Bash - Gupta of Calcutta Rhymes, who was 'inspired' by this incident, has written in her recent article about this. Her topic excerpts are given below : -

Case 1 : - Ramesh (name changed on request) had a problem due to his dark skin. Everybody compared him with black coal. He wanted a solution. So, he visited city's new beauty clinic Dyeing Health Clinic. Their doctors (specially Dr. D. Doss) have invented a new therapy with Mango called Mango - Cure. After Mango - Cure on Ramesh, he now has a glowing skin as bright as mango juice itself.

Case 2 : - Abhilash (name changed on request) had a serious problem due to his bald head. He also visited city's Dyeing Health Clinic. There, Dr. G. Doss has successfully applied his Mango - Cure on his bald head which is now changed to a full grown hair. The added natural vitamins of mango juice is very helpful for our Body and Skin, claims Dr. D. Doss.

Thanks must be given to Mr. D. Doss for inventing such a natural, cheap and no-side effects curable process. Biyanka Bash - Gupta has also done a great job by reporting this total incident on Calcutta Rhymes.

The medical treatment based on MANGO does not have that magical effect on our tongues as it could have been in case of eating BINGO potato chips.

COMICS /ANIMATION : KOLKATA’S OWN SUPERHERO

Kolkata’s kids are always interested in comics and superpowers. That’s why Batman, Superman, He-Man, Harry Potter, Tarzan, Phantom, Mandrek and Spiderman are our comics idol. If you ask Spiderman to fly on the buildings’ roofs or walls of Kolkata, you will find out Spiderman very injured. Because there are so many low buildings with plenty of cable wires, telephone wires and broadband connection wires, that will automatically create an obstacle for Peter Parker to fly free. And, India is famous for identity / personal data theft. That’s why Greg Chappel’s secret letter gets out in the media. Specially Kolkatans are very curious about what their neighbours are doing. So, when Spidey, after a day’s of hard work will return home, somebody will see him to unmask himself. Hence, Peter’s ‘secret identity’ will be revealed. I gave the condition of Spiderman. What will happen to Superman and Batman, you imagine that yourself.

But, unfortunately none of these above mentioned superheroes is our own. Their sources are from foreign countries. Does Kolkata ever had any superhero or comic character? The answer is yes. Kolkata has some popular comics character, like, Handa – Bhonda, Nonte – Fonte, Tenida, Gupi Bagha and a very powerful yet funny superhero called Bantul The Great ( Although I don’t think he is as powerful as the ‘Hulk’ is.). Now a days a renowned publishing house in kolkata, is animating some bookish characters. Examples are - Detective Feluda and Professor Shanku (the genius scientist ).

Serious Comics Characters : - By serious comics, I mean no fun and only action, horror, adventure. Suspense thriller etc. action packed comics characters, internationally, are Superman, Batman, Hulk, Spiderman, He Man, Flash Gordon, Fantom, Mandrek, Flash, X – Men, Fantastic Four, etc. Even in India, Hindi comics and movies have got serious action superheroes. No, I’m not talking about Chacha Choudhury’s Sabu. I am indicating towards Shaktiman comics which are out in the market. Hrithick Rosan acted in the superhero movie Krrish which was a big hit. We got our own Hindi version of Superman in the form of Krrish and Shaktiman. Hanuman and Krishna, two mythical characters of Indian epics, have now become our famous animated characters. But unfortunately, we Bengali comics lovers have still no serious superhero. May be, in near future, we can have somebody. Still, serious action, animation TV series are made now in West Bengal which is shown in one TV channel. This one is the Bengali equivalent ( not equal ) of English characters the Famous Five and it is called Pandav Goenda.

Animated characters on Begali film is yet to come.Director Sandip Ray is making a film on Detective Feluda. But I think, this is just the right time for him to make a general or special effect oriented film on Professor Shanku. Actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who has been acted on previous Feluda films, is an aged person now. I suppose that he will ideally fit to the character of Professor Shanku at this time. Director Sandip Ray should think about this wonderful possibility.

Also, multimedia professionals should work on popular Bengali cartoon or bookish characters to make animation on them. I wish them very best.

I am a food – aholic person. No, I don’t eat at restaurants and five star hotels. But I like to know about new dishes. Generally I like those dishes which require less ingredients and are easy to cook. On other day, after our post – graduation classes were over, our teacher Shreya ma’am ( Shreya Adhikary ) was telling us that she likes to cook new dishes at her home, she enjoys tasting innovative food items at restaurants, she wants to know about delicious recipes and she is a great foodie by nature.

A SMALL CAPTION.

On the occation of Mother’s Day, May 13, a Bengali TV channel (Ma – hakash Bangla ) is starting a new TV serial – ‘Ma – Go’. For this mega-serial’s title song , our very own Touch Stone Bangla Band has sung a Bengali song ‘Tumi Amar Ma Go’. The cast includes : Ma – yamoyi Devi ( in the mother’s role ), Parajita Dash ( for daughter’s role ), Ankshik Sen, Ashol Chakraborty etc. The director claims that the story is full of passion, suspense, climax and anti – climax. The Actors, producer and director are very ‘passionate’ and ‘excited’ about the whole project. The daily serial watchers are also ‘passionate’ and ‘excited’ about the serial.

But………..

The ‘passion’ and ‘excitement’ for ‘MA – GO’ serial is nothing compared to the ‘passion’ and ‘excitement’ of a foodie towards ‘BINGO’ spicy chips.

Mayawati Power -- The Rising

IS MAYA-MAGIC GOOD OR BAD FOR US?

As a resident of West Bengal, I don’t have any problem about who wins in Uttar Pradesh. But still I felt some urge to state my personal viewpoint both in favour of and against Mayawati.

Arguments against Mayawati:-

1) Mayawati won against two national parties congress(22 seats) and BJP(50 seats) with a huge seat difference which is no good for our national politics.

2) As Samajwadi Party backed industrialists like Anil Ambani, Subroto Roy Sahara etc., it is not likely that industrialists will get same type of support from Mayawati government.

3) A. P. J. Abdul Kalam may get a second turn if nasty political games are played by BSP favouring Dr. Kalam.

4) That BSP is supporting Brahmins is only a temporary situation, not a permanent one. Politicians like Mayawati can not have permanent good feelings for upper castes.

Arguments in favour of Mayawati : -1) Two Bs together : - In recent years, Congress’ mixed policy towards upper and lower castes has made upper castes to shift towards BSP. This time a new equation is formed ---- 2B = Brahmins + BSP = The New Integrated BSP [ where, condition is, both parties should remain close to power to make this equation stable. ]Note : - The equation could be better if the third B (i.e. BJP) would be present there but unfortunately that’s not possible.

2) Stable government : - Since Mayawati will have stable government now instead of an unstable coalition government, her decision making will be quicker and easier.

3) Bringing Musims, Dalits and upper castes under one umbrella signifies and glorifies India’s secular image and full credit goes to Mayawati.

After winning this big battle of politics, Mayawati has some great responsibilities. She should not misutilize her power. She must raise her cooperative hands towards Mulayam Singh Yadav, Rajnath Singh, Amar Singh, Rahul Gandhi etc. to function better. Sheshould not engage herself deeply in presidential election. She should continue to industrialists green signals to continue investing their money in UP development projects. Lastly, she must keep her secular image with all castes and communities.
I wish her a prosperous political journey.

RESERVATION POLICY AT IIMS, AIITS, IITS: - CAN IT BE SUPPORTED REALLY?

There was an article published on the Economics Times on 9 May, 2007 on the editorial page with the heading – ‘Social neo-Darwinism as policy’. The writer clearly stated his views in favour of Indian government’s reservation policy.
According to him and another previous writer, if the quota system be implemented in IIMs, the fall in quality will be marginal.Now, none of the writers said that the fall in quality will be ‘zero’. That means there will still be ‘some effect’ of implementing quota system, no matter how small it is and some ineligible students getting admissions at IIMs will draw big salaries after being passed from their institutes which is a matter of great shame for our country’s educational system. All the meritorious students’ merits are ridiculed hence, and disrecpected by our HRD ministry.
This is just not the right way to show “solid community service” (the term used by Mr. B Ashok, the columnist). If social responsibility means today IIMs have to take candidates from backward classes, then tomorrow we have to see they will organize blood donation camps and on day after tomorrow, they will be donating free meals and clothes to underprivileged children --- that’s definitely is not their job. Mr. B. Ashok has accused IIMs, AIITs, IITs as “these institutions have developed a cynical and myopic view of India’s social transformation.” How can he make such foolish comments? Doesn’t he understand that the word ‘reservation’ itself is associated with ‘cynical and mypic view’ of Indian society? His own comments are going against him. Lastly, he has said, papers of CAT exam. Conducted by IIMs “have leaked”. But that doesn’t mean that reservation policy has to be enacted as a natural result. One must remember that reservation policy is the problem. It is not the solution. The only solution is to eliminate quota system from atleast higher education system. “Mr. B Ashok has said “The fresh blood from hitherto inhibited groups will reenergize the IIMs…” He should understand that IIMs, IITs are not like an ordinary torch and fresh blood of SC/STs or OBCs are surely not Duracel batteries which will ‘reenergize’ that toch. IIMs can be reenergized by taking only good quality students and not by implementing quota policy or reservation system.
If IIMs, IITs apply the reservation systems, then their corporate world reputation will be down. They will loose their worldwide good image. We are Indians and we are proud of our IIMs, AIITs, IITs. It’s high time that we must unite and raise a social resistance against the issue. If we don’t, India’s future generation will mock at us.

COMPARATIVE ADVERTISING ---- ARE THEY GOOD OR BAD?

Before writing anything about Comparative advertising I must say that the views expressed are only my personal views. So, in case I make any ‘bad’ / improper comment about any person or Organization, please don’t take it seriously and / or officially. If you see information is wrong, kindly forgive me.

On May 3, 2007 there was an advertisement published in the Times of India newspaper. The ad was given on the page number 16 ( Titled as Business Economy page). The ad was for the promotion of the job site timesjobs.com. the ad’s caption was - ‘It took us 25 days to move 1,28,370 steps further ahead of our competitor.’ That competitor’s anme I know. But neither the ad nor I would mention its name because, mentioning the name may lead us to some legal problems in case the comparative charts and graphs data given on the ad are false or partially true. This type of ads promoting one promoting one product / service or brand by comparing it to other similar product(s) / service(s) or brand(s) is known as comparative advertising. These types of ads may be both ehical and unethical. You will see plenty of companies fighting legal battles for such unethical comparative ads.

Given below, some arguments both in favour and against of comparative advertising : -

Arguments in favour:-

1) In case of comparative ads, the customer can get the product attributes of one brand compared to another. In case of Hyundai’s Santro and Maruti’s Wagon R, the consumer can get a comparative chart of the advantages and disadvantages of the similar products and from there his / her preference and purchase decision can be made.
2) While launching a new brand, the comparative ads may work in favour of the new brand when it is compared to the other similar brands already existing in the market from other companies. Like, when a television company launches its new brand with advanced technology, it shows comparative ads to generate business.

Arguments against:-

1) For almost similar products like Pepsi and Coca- Cola ‘s coke products,where product composition, packaging are almost same, comparative ads, comaparative charts and graphs are of no use. What they do in those case is mocking at each other’s products and making each other’s information as wrong info. In these types of comparative ad war, companies come up finally with a loose – loose situation for both. Many companies do not show comparative ads mentioning their competitor’s name directlt but they do it in an indirect manner. Like Kotex sanitary napkin used it against Whisper, with their caption -- ‘Don’t Whisper. Say it allowed.’
2) loyal customers of a brand is generally aware of that brand. When they see that any other similar brand is showing comparative ads not with correct facts they take it seriously and as result a negative impression is created in the market for that brand showing comparative ads.

WHO CAN BE INDIA’S NEXT PRESIDENT ?

Before writing anything about India’s president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam I must say that the views expressed are only my personal views. So, in case I make any ‘bad’ comment about any person or Organization, please don’t take it seriously and / or officially. If you see information is wrong, kindly forgive me.

In the recent years whichever TV channel or newspaper you open, you will find that ‘everybody’ is exited about who will be India’s president. Whether Prez. Kalam be given a second term? The group of ‘everybody’ can be subdivided into three categories, namely, friends of Prez. Kalam, opponents of Prez. Kalam and Favour - seekers of Prez. Kalam.

What is the major good work of Prez. Kalam? Visit schools and converse with children and give them some gyan.

What are the causes for the popularity of our respected president? Very simple. The causes are mainly two : -

1) Support and love from those children whose natural thought processes were brain-washed by Kalam himself.
2) Shameless support from some favour – seeker media persons.

It is a great irony that in India, where many people are daily – earners and many people remain starved, crores of rupees are allocated in defence system, plenty of defence researches and missile development programmes go on and a person is chosen as the president who is called the ‘Missile Man’ of India.

A personal who is a good scientist, it is very unlikely that he can be a good manager / leader / motivator also. So, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam may be a good scientist, it is very much foolish to treat him as the greatest mentor for our country.

India has a vast talented people. So. Prez. Kalam is elected for a second time, foreigners will think that India has less eligible, qualified people who can be considered for country’s top ranked post.

Love for children is always very good. But a president must take care of his countrymen when they are in distress. Ask anybody what is Mr. Kalam’s role in the Singur or Nandigram incident? What a modern scientist like Mr. Kalam thinks about Reservation Policy of HRD ministry at IIMs and IITs of our country? No answer. That makes his job incomplete. Big dialogues can not make a man big. His work does.

My dear countrymen should analyse Mr. Kalam’s work properly. Then, they can take decisions about whether the president should be elected for a second time or not.

Latest Addition on Presidential Election : - What is the significance of employing Pratibha Patil as UPA candidate for presidential poll of India? There are some positive and negative impact for this.

Points favouring Pratibha Patil : -

Since, Pratibha Patil has already acted as the governor of Rajasthan, it would go in her favour, because she has already an experience of handling a state.

Female candidates for any administrative post in India are as eligible as their male counterparts. Pratibha Patil is the right choice for the proof of this fact.

For the stability of UPA government, choice of a female candidate like Pratibha Patil would be better option because Leftists have no opposition against Pratibha Patil as they have against Shivraj Patil.

Unlike Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Dr. Kalam, Pratibha Patil has the background of an educationist which purely matches with former Indian presidents K R Narayanan and S Radhakrishnan.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has recently said, if Dr. Kalam contests for presidentship, then he retrieve his name from the candidates’ list. He did not even consult his party BJP before this comment. This shows how much weak personality he has. Pratibha Patil, on the other hand, has not made this type of loose comments which shows her stronger personality for presidential race.

During voting, Pratibha Patil may get votes from Shiv Sena which may be considered as a threat for NDA and Third Front’s voting strength.

Points against Pratibha Patil : -

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat who is the BJP candidate, has already the experience of working as a vice president which has certainly more effect than Pratibha Patel’s working as a governor.

Shivsena chief Bal Thackeray has support for Pratibha Patil because of her Maharashtrian origin. So, we can ask why not we, the people of Bengal shouldn’t support Pranab Mukherjee, Somnath Chatterjee or even Jyoti Basu as presidential candidate as because they are of Bengali origin? I personally believe that when Jyoti Basu missed the chance of becoming prime minister of India, that was a historic blunder. This time again he and other two Bengalies have missed the chance of becoming president of India. So, history has repeated itself.

So, regionalism issue may portray Pratibha Patil in a wrong way in the people’ s mind.

Below I am giving a small synopsis of the other two candidates although I'm not sure whether Dr. Kalam will campaign this time or not. ----

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat : He is the weakest among all the three candidates. (the other two being Pratibha Patil and Dr. Kalam). Although the competition for presidential election has become a nasty game, Mr. Shekhawat has indirectly strengthened this nasty game by deciding to withdraw his name from the healthy contest. That does not prove his good or bad attitude but it clearly proves that he has a weak personality and his mind can bend down to the interest of some regional political parties who have lost their grounds in their own states.

Now, both UPA and NDA is saying that their candidate's past activities are not transparent, that is quite saddening.

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam : The person who is called the ‘Missile Man’ of India, is trying to act like a missile on his competitor(s). But there is a sharp contrast in his activities. Missiles signify the devastating weaponry system of War. At least, I don’t know about any missile that can carry flowers, chocolates or cakes from one place to another. They carry weapons of mass destruction. Now, interaction with children symbolizes a picture of Peace and harmony. War and Peace can not go side by side for the same person. That is the most contrasting phenomena I’ve found in Dr. Kalam’s characteristics. But apart from this, I think he is an honest man. I personally like interacting with children. So, anybody, who likes that I can not have hatred against him / her. Besides that, Kalam should be given credit for staying such long years as an effective president if not a successful president. Although he can not be put in the same league of India’s eternal heroes like Bapuji, Netaji, Swami Vivekananda, etc. , but he must be admired as one of the respectable president India has ever obtained.

Whatever the situation may be, I would like to see a change for the presidential post. Perhaps, India is on her way of getting the first female president – our Madam President, if not nasty political games are not played.

KOLKATA’S MUSIC AND FM CHANNELS

Before writing anything about FM channels I must say that the views expressed are only my personal views. So, in case I make any ‘bad’ comment about any person or Organization, please don’t take it seriously. If you see information is wrong, kindly forgive me.

Everybody call FM as Frequency Modulations but I personally call it as Frequently Music. When I tune on to my radio, I listen to channels like Red FM (93.5), Radio Mirchi (98.3) ,Amar 106.2 FM and Power 107.8 FM --- these four channels. Before these four channels there was only one FM channel aired by GOVT. which is now divided into FM Rainbow and FM Gold. After these four channels, Big FM and 91.9 Friends FM came.

Red FM focuses on Hindi songs mainly, Redio Mirchi (98.3) focuses on Bengali and Hindi songs mainly , Amar 106.2 FM generally plays Bengali songs and Power 107.8 FM plays Hindi and English songs. Big and Friends FM play all there laguages songs but no so much hit songs I suppose. I love to listen the English music programme at FM Rainbow channel.

RJs :- RJ means Radio Jockey. Rest all Rj’s are very god and are doing a fine job.

Celebrity RJ’s : - Friends are the only channel which is hosting many popular actors and singers as RJs like Soumitra Chatterjee, Srikanta Acharya, Raghab/v Chattopadhyay, Lopamudra Mitra, No/achiketa (Gazal songs ), Anjan Dutta (Jibonmukhi songs) and Rupam Islam ( Rock songs/ bands). Mir of Radio ‘Mir’-chi is another RJ sensation who can be regarded as a RJ celebrity.

Importance of RJ’s : - I think RJs are very important because they deal with people’s minds or their psychological problems, give them important suggestions/ solutions, shares knowledge like City-life, City based events and Current national and international affairs. Their speaking style is very smart and attractive and listeners just love to speak to them over phone.

Catchy Captions : - Many FM channels have various catchy caption for the consumer awareness and promotion of their brands. Like, Power FM has – ‘All Hits All Day’; Red FM has – ‘Bajate Raho’; Radio Mirchi has – ‘It’s Hot’ and ‘Your Khushi Ka Partner’ ; Big FM has – ‘Shono Shonao, Life Jomao’; Friends FM has – ‘Bondhu Tomar Jonno’

Programmes for Party Animals : - For those guys who like to spend their nights at city’s night clubs, some FM channels conduct programmes like ‘Saturday Nights Live’ on every weekends where songs like played in the same manner as that is done in night clubs.

Contests : - Lots of contests are played by each channel to reward and attract the listeners. Like Lucky Eighth Caller, Ami Ke, Phone Uthake Power FM bolo contest, Mirchi block buster Budhbar contest, Bardhan Market’s jewellery Gift contest (Red FM) etc. By these contests listeners are changed to ‘loyal’ listeners.

Whose songs I like personally : -

Bengali : - Rupankar, Srikanta Acharya, Anjan Dutta, Lopamudra Mitra, Manomoy Bhattacharya, Hoimonti Shukla, Indrani Sen, Shampa Kundu, Raghab/v, Nachiketa, Kabir Suman, Saikat Mitra,other general singers, and all Bangla bands mainly Chandrabindu, Bhumi, Fossils, Dohar, Cactus, Lakkhichara etc.

Hindi : - Lucky Ali, Abhijit, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam, Adnan Swami and all others and some Indian and Pakistani bands.

English : - Not specifically anybody.

All the above singers songs are frequently played on the FM channels.

Songs played on request : - The listeners are given the opportunity to send their request for songs by SMSes and emails. Based on their request, the particular songs are played.
Some FM channels also give their listeners to vote for their favourite songs to play them.

Jokes : - Although all FM channels are not sources of funny hilarious comedy shows, but the RJs conducting the programmes continuously share funny talks with listeners to make the programmes thoroughly enjoyable.

Messages and Dedications : - the RJs allow the listeners come up with their viewpoint on any debatable issue with their SMS text messages. In certain other programmes, lovers and well wishers are given option to dedicate songs or personal quotes to their beloved ones.

Sexiest FM Channel :- It's certainly Big FM. In the programme of 'Kelenkari', RJ Mou gives adult topics and what is more interesting is women participants / callers tell their own sex life in a very casual manner!

Best RJ(s) :- Among male RJs my favourites are RJ Mir, Rehan, Rakesh etc. Among females, the top choices would be Pragya, Arnabi, Sonya etc. Best pair of RJs conducting programmes will be Mir & Arnabi, Rakesh & Pragya and Rakesh & Rehan ( Dr. Razi and Dr. Kazi ).

Future of FM Channels : - Perhaps by the year 2050, there will be 500 local FM channels aired on Radio. And if we suppose that number of RJs working at that time will be 15 per FM channel, then there will be nearly 500 * 15 = 75000 RJs working in local FM channels! People will be totally confused about which programme to listen and which one to neglect. As for now, I can say, Jadavpur University, in association with Webel Mediatronics, is launching a new FM channel. According to them, it will be an educational air channel. Its aim will be to try to form a social community on air.

LOVE MUSIC, CARE FOR PEOPLE, PLAY BEAUTIFUL SONGS AND KEEP YOUR BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION GOING.

Those ( i.e. the RJs) who are playing beautiful songs day by day, nurturing our minds by their intellectual talks, please pay them a handsome salary such that they get more motivated to do their job.

Hello unknown world. I am Biswajit Ganguly. I have interests in art ( poetry writing ), software programming ( in VB ) and software or exciting files downloading from net.
